Position Details: Title: Bioprocess Scientist - Recombinant Protein ExpressionPosition Type: 1 year contract with additional opportunity contingent upon performance and continued business needJob Location: West Point, PAShift: 1st shiftCompensation: $38-$42.75Responsibilities: Join the Protein Expression and Purification Team within the Infectious Diseases and Vaccines (IDVax) department to support target discovery and validation in early discovery. Perform large-scale (up to 10L) recombinant protein and virus-like particle (VLP) expression via transient transfection of suspension mammalian cells. Operate across multiple expression systems, including shake flasks and WAVE bioreactor technology. Collaborate closely with the protein purification and characterization teams to ensure seamless workflow and high-quality output. Maintain detailed electronic lab notebooks and manage inventory of consumables and DNA reagents with precision and accuracy.Required Skills: Strong foundation in aseptic technique and sterile cell culture, with experience working in a biosafety cabinet (BSC). Proficiency in mammalian cell culture, including passaging, cell counting, density determination, and dilutions. Hands-on experience with transient transfection for recombinant protein expression. Skilled in protein characterization techniques such as SDS-PAGE, Western blot, and UV-VIS spectroscopy. Excellent organization, communication, and teamwork skills, with the ability to work both independently and

Skills: Experience with suspension mammalian cell culture systems. Familiarity with large-scale culture operations, including WAVE bioreactor systems. Knowledge of cell culture analyzers (e.g., BioProfile FLEX analyzer). Experience optimizing expression conditions for challenging or multimeric proteins.Education Requirements: M.S. in Biology, Biochemistry, or related field with 1-2 years of relevant experience, or B.S. in Biology, Biochemistry, or related field with 3+ years of relevant post-graduate experience, preferably in an industrial/lab setting.
