Hours per fortnight
73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available.
Duties
- Advise Crown Agencies and Instrumentalities on a broad range of legal issues.
- Undertake high-level legal research and assist the Solicitor-General as required.
- Act as Solicitor or Counsel in litigation involving the Crown, as directed by the Solicitor-General.
- Serve as Solicitor for requests for advice, including determining additional material needs and liaising with requesting agencies.
- Prepare and present legal education seminars.
Essential Requirements
- Admitted or eligible for admission as a Barrister or Practitioner of the Supreme Court of Tasmania.
Pre-employment Checks
The Head of State Service requires the nominated person to pass pre-employment checks, including:
- Checks for arson, violent crimes, sex offences, drug offences, dishonesty, deception, false declarations, malicious damage, serious traffic offences, crimes against public order, crimes against the Executive or Legislative Power, and conspiracy.
- Disciplinary action in previous employment.
- Identification check.
Desirable Requirements
- More than 2 years post-admission experience.
