The Role

An exciting opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic, committed, and customer service-focused Maintenance Officer to join our team at Highvale Retirement Village in Glen Waverly, on a permanent part-time basis.

As a Maintenance Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our village by undertaking maintenance activities and providing excellent customer service to our residents. We seek a proactive individual with strong communication skills and a knack for problem-solving.

Reporting to the Village Manager, your duties will include:

  1. Coordinating and undertaking proactive and reactive maintenance, repairs, and inspections across the village
  2. Implementing and adhering to EHS procedures, ensuring safety at all times
  3. Addressing maintenance requests promptly and efficiently with great customer service and a genuine interest in assisting and working with the elderly
  4. Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities using our program
  5. Assisting with various ad hoc duties as required
  6. Transporting residents for outings and shopping trips in the village bus

The Shifts

  • Permanent Part-time
  • 4 or 5 days per week (30 hours in total)
  • Some flexibility with preferred days/times

About You

  • Demonstrated experience in residential maintenance or as a handyperson
  • Organized and able to effectively manage and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Excellent customer service skills with a genuine interest in assisting and working with the elderly
  • Ability to supervise and liaise with tradespeople
  • A current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Basic computer skills
  • Proactive and able to take initiative
  • Natural problem solver with safety as a priority
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Relevant internal training and inductions will be provided on-site to the successful candidate.

Please note: The successful applicant must complete a Police Check and will be required to receive an annual flu vaccination between April and October, with proof provided prior to joining. For some roles, pre-employment medical assessments may also be required.
