We’ve got big plans and are looking for a Finance Manager to join our Transactional Finance team. Following recent investments in systems like Workday and a Planning and Forecasting system, we aim to become a centre of excellence in providing timely, relevant, and reliable financial information across the Group.
This role offers a great opportunity to experience working as a Finance Manager and to support a new project (Project Gemini). The project's goal is to review and improve our systems and processes by automating manual tasks and streamlining data to enhance insight and analysis.
Key Responsibilities
Management and financial accounts/reporting:
- Produce monthly management and financial accounts packs, including analysis and commentary on P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash flow.
- Control and report on Capex spend.
- Maintain and improve internal controls, procedures, and documentation.
- Prepare and review Balance Sheet reconciliations, addressing issues promptly.
Statutory reporting:
- Prepare Group consolidated and individual statutory accounts, draft press releases, presentation materials, Annual Report, and Audit Committee papers.
- Act as the main contact for external auditors.
- Manage audits for half-year, year-end, and subsidiaries.
- Review regulatory changes and prepare technical papers to support accounting treatments.
Treasury:
- Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts aligned with re-forecasting cycles.
- Report and manage cash balances, recommending mitigation strategies as needed.
- Monitor and report on bank covenants.
Taxes:
- Calculate and review corporate and deferred taxes for statutory reporting.
- Ensure timely and accurate tax returns and payments.
- Develop in-house expertise through training and materials.
Projects/Systems:
- Collaborate with the Systems team to enhance use of Board and Workday, migrating from Excel-based processes while maintaining controls.
- Lead Workday integrations, managing expectations, liaising with teams, and ensuring accurate reporting.
Project Gemini:
- Support the delivery of a new operating model through data, process, and reporting improvements, automating forecasting, and enabling self-serve reporting.
What do you need to excel in this role?
- Accounting qualification (ACA or ACCA).
- Strong technical knowledge of accounting and tax, including IFRS, UK GAAP, Corporation Tax, VAT, and PAYE.
- Experience with year-end Group reporting and audits.
- Experience in systems, controls, and process improvements.
- Ability to analyze complex data and communicate findings effectively.
- Strong relationship-building skills with management.
- Understanding of Moneysupermarket’s business model and its impact on accounting and tax.
- Proactive attitude with problem-solving skills.
- Leadership ability, including coaching and fostering continuous improvement.
- Commitment to accuracy and review within the team.
