Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
Strive Community Care provides therapeutic home environments for children and young people with histories of trauma, abuse, and neglect. Using our Therapeutic Framework and CREATE Model of Care, we focus on establishing holistic safety. Children and young people are supported to heal, connect, and rebuild their lives.
We are seeking Casual Therapeutic Care Workers in the Gympie Region to support children and young people in their healing journey through care in therapeutic homes. These workers will also mentor children and young people through the WeStrive Mentoring Program.
This role involves working on a 24/7 rotating roster, including sleepovers, weekends, and public holidays.
Key duties include:
- Creating a positive, caring environment supporting residents.
- Building trust through professional, nurturing relationships.
- Ensuring safety via Behaviour Support and Crisis Management Plans.
- Applying trauma-informed care principles aligned with our CREATE Model.
- Meeting essential needs, including nutrition, hygiene, education support, and positive experiences.
- Promoting independence through life skills support.
- Responding empathetically to complex trauma and pain-based behaviors.
- Mentoring children and young people to achieve their goals.
- Being an appropriate role model and engaging in purposeful activities.
- Supporting community links and capacity building.
Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications and experience required:
- Minimum Certificate IV in Youth Work, Social Work, Social Science, Counselling, or working towards it.
- Current First Aid and CPR certifications.
- Recent Police Check (within last 12 months).
- Blue Card (Working With Children Check).
- Experience with young people with trauma is preferred.
- Experience in case planning, safety planning, behavior support, case noting, and report writing is desirable.
