About the role:

Are you ready to take on a pivotal role contributing to the risk management strategies at Bluestone? We are currently seeking a seasoned Senior Underwriter to join our dynamic team based in the CBD. Using your analytical skills and industry expertise, you will evaluate the creditworthiness of clients, assess the risk associated with lending and investment activities, and provide recommendations to support sound decision-making.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting a thorough analysis of mortgage applications
  • Managing a lending delegation of up to $2.5m
  • Mentoring and supporting the professional growth of junior underwriters
  • Cultivating trusted and reliable relationships with brokers and customers
  • Offering scenario assistance to Business Development Managers and Brokers

Required skills and experience:

  • At least 2 years of underwriting experience in the residential mortgage sector, with a particular emphasis on non-conforming mortgages.

Additionally, you will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • A comprehensive understanding of relevant regulatory legislation
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and a strong sense of initiative
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a professional telephone manner
  • A technical understanding of underwriting and an ability to communicate coherently to clients, customers, and colleagues.
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to shape and negotiate deals
  • The ability to thrive in high-pressure environments
