Yee Hong is one of the foremost providers of culturally appropriate senior care in the country, delivering high-quality resident experience and care to Chinese and other Asian seniors since 1994. The organization operates 805 long-term care beds and 308 seniors’ apartment units, with an additional 224 long-term care beds opening in a new home by June 2026. In addition, Yee Hong offers four campuses of managed care, a hospice residence, and a wide range of community-based senior and caregiver support services. Through this comprehensive network, the organization serves more than 15,000 individuals annually across the Greater Toronto Area.

Core Function:

Partnering with the Director of Human Resources and other key business leaders, the successful candidate will be key to enhancing the development and implementation of a comprehensive talent acquisition strategy to address short-term and long-term organizational goals. This role is critical to advance the organization’s capacity to continuously deliver excellent services to seniors by embedding a talent acquisition function that consistently delivers operational excellence and top talent in a timely manner.

The successful candidate will lead recruitment and selection strategies & frameworks to elevate the organization’s practices including the sourcing of staff for Yee Hong’s new long-term care home (projected opening is Spring 2026). The incumbent will focus on building diverse candidate pipelines by implementing innovative sourcing channels, developing partnerships with key internal & external networks/organizations and leveraging digital technologies to optimize resources.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Talent Acquisition Leadership:

  • Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive, short-term & long-term talent acquisition strategy that aligns with the organization’s mission, values, and goals
  • Ensure the recruitment function is stable, sustainable, and able to meet the current needs and the needs of a growing organization
  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing recruitment team including oversight of recruitment timelines and deliverables and ensuring the team meets hiring deadlines without compromising the quality of hires.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, training, and support to ensure the team is equipped with the tools, resources, and knowledge to execute best-in-class recruitment strategies and deliver results.
  • Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders (senior leadership, department heads, hiring managers) to understand current and future workforce needs.
  • Build partnerships with industry-specific networks, professional associations, diversity organizations, and digital platforms (such as talent communities, online forums, and social media groups, academic/career college student placements) to attract a wide variety of diverse candidates.

Operational Excellence & High-Quality Talent Acquisition

  • Establish a well-organized, data-driven recruitment process that emphasizes best practices in candidate sourcing, evaluation, selection, and onboarding.
  • Continuously improve processes to ensure timely delivery of top talent for various departments across the organization.
  • Define, track, report & analyze key recruitment metrics such as time-to-fill, quality-of-hire, cost-per-hire, and retention rates noting key trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop tailored recruitment strategies for each department, ensuring alignment with business goals and talent needs.
  • Establish operational processes that guarantee efficiency and high-quality outcomes across all recruitment activities.
  • Develop specialized & innovative sourcing strategies for sourcing candidates for hard-to-fill positions including collaborating with external partners such as specialized recruitment firms to tackle challenging roles to improve the organization’s ability to fill these positions.
  • Actively participate in workforce planning and talent management reviews to inform the current and future talent acquisition needs of Yee Hong
  • Participate in other key activities and projects as required by the Director of Human Resources

Employer Branding & Candidate Experience:

  • Lead the development and promotion of Yee Hong’s employer brand and value proposition to attract top-tier talent.
  • Create a positive and engaging candidate experience, ensuring clear communication and a smooth hiring process from initial contact to onboarding.
  • Gather feedback from candidates and new hires about their experience including analyzing the data from contact to onboarding to 3-, 6- & 9-month touchpoints
  • Develop and implement strategies to support the employer brand and experience while fostering a strong, diverse talent pipeline for both current and future organizational needs.

Compliance & Leading Practices:

  • Ensure all recruitment activities comply with policies, processes & practices, union collective agreements, and applicable legislation.
  • Develop and conduct annual compliance audits of key recruitment processes, collective agreements and current or new legislative requirements
  • Review and revise recruitment, selection and onboarding processes, policies and other documentation as required
  • Stay informed of industry trends, emerging recruitment technologies, and best practices to continually refine and enhance the organization’s talent acquisition approach.
  • Address concerns of non-compliance in a timely manner including developing new processes, polices as required

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field; (Master's an asset).

Experience:

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in talent acquisition preferably in the healthcare industry, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience in building, scaling, and leading recruitment functions within complex organizations.
  • A track record of successfully developing and short-term and long-term recruitment strategies to fill a minimum of 100 vacancies per month.
  • Experience building diverse talent pipelines and leveraging modern sourcing channels (e.g., social media, job boards, online talent communities, student placements, geo-mapping).

Skills:

  • Strong leadership capabilities with experience managing and mentoring recruitment teams.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels (hiring managers, senior staff and external networks such as academic institutions, professional associations, etc.)
  • Data-driven with the ability to leverage recruitment metrics to drive decision-making and improvements.
  • Deep knowledge of modern recruitment tools, technologies, and best practices.
  • In-depth understanding of recruitment compliance and industry regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced environment utilizing a high level of initiative and critical-thinking skills.
  • Proven experience maximizing the use of technology (i.e. applicant tracking systems, Boolean search, social media platforms, etc.) recruit and select candidates
  • Adaptable & resilient with a drive to implement effective and efficient solutions that make a difference
