Key Responsibilities Of The Aquarium Operations Services Manager:
- Coordinate and oversee AAT’s operational services across a portfolio of aquariums in Australia and internationally, ensuring seamless day-to-day functionality.
- Lead a team of aquarists, curators and LSS specialists working in public and commercial aquariums and grow our aquarium support and services business.
- Foster strong relationships with aquarium owners and stakeholders, providing regular operational updates and performance reports.
- Drive revenue and profit growth by identifying and developing new business opportunities and commercial partnerships within Aquarium Operations Services.
- Collaborate with design and engineering teams to provide frontline expertise for life support system development and operation.
- Oversee AAT’s in-house aquaculture facility, ensuring operational efficiency and animal care standards.
- Manage animal transportation logistics and ensure compliance with relevant licenses, permits, and operational equipment requirements.
- Drive business growth by identifying new opportunities, managing client relationships, and supporting commercial profitability.
Qualifications & Professional Experience:
- Bachelor’s in Marine Sciences, Biology, Engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years in public aquariums & zoos.
- 5+ years of management role experience with project delivery.
What We're Looking For:
- Technical - Proven experience in public aquarium or zoo operations, life support systems (LSS) design, and water quality management.
- Experience delivering aquarium or zoo renovation, refurbishment, or construction projects is a major plus.
- Leadership - Strong ability to lead, mentor, and coordinate teams, ensuring smooth daily operations.
- Problem-Solving & Adaptability – Quick decision-making skills to handle operational challenges, emergencies, or equipment failures.
- Communication & Client Relations – Excellent interpersonal skills for professionally engaging with clients, internal stakeholders, and vendors.
- Commercial & Business Acumen.
