Your role

The Lead Roto/Paint Artist is responsible for ensuring the paint/roto team delivers all requested elements in a timely fashion and acts as a liaison between Production and the crew.

What will you be doing?

  1. Assist the Producer, CG Supervisors & Production Managers with bidding and scheduling.
  2. Attend Dailies and follow up with the team regarding their notes, fixes, etc.
  3. Attend Production meetings.
  4. Assign shots to appropriate artists.
  5. Provide clear direction and priorities to crew.
  6. Monitor shot and sequence progress.
  7. Motivate and empower the crew to meet deadlines.
  8. Identify problems and effectively implement solutions.
  9. Perform quality control on elements delivered to compositors.
  10. Paint/roto complex shots quickly and efficiently as needed or time allows.
  11. Interview and review potential candidates when required.
  12. Mentor less experienced artists.

Skills and qualifications

  • At least 4+ years of feature film VFX work experience, excluding stereoconversion experience.
  • Must have Nuke experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities.
  • Strong communication skills with artists, supervisors, and managers.
  • Excellent time management skills for delivering shots.
  • Solid organizational skills for prioritizing shot requests.
  • Team player who takes direction well.
  • Dependable under pressure with attention to detail.
  • Professional in all dealings with Production, Supervisors, and crew.
