About the Company

We are looking for an experienced Councillor Support Officer/Administrator to join a NSW Government department in Parramatta a 3 month contract with an immediate start!

About the Role

The role serves as a liaison, ensuring that Councillors are well-supported and that communication and project tracking are efficiently managed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Build and maintain strong partnerships with relevant Council teams for ward-based projects.
  2. Coordinate and track progress of ward-based projects.
  3. Prepare and conduct briefings for Councillors and the Executive, ensuring feedback is collected and outcomes are achieved.
  4. Manage community consultation processes and engage with stakeholders to ensure effective community buy-in.
  5. Prioritise and manage Councillor service requests, including meeting requests and resident inquiries.
  6. Coordinate responses to Councillor requests and correspondence from various operational areas within the Council.
  7. Prepare high-level communications and correspondence for Councillors.
  8. Conduct research and provide analysis to Councillors on complex issues.
  9. Assist the Coordinator in the delivery of the Councillor Induction and Professional Development Program.
  10. Provide executive and administrative support to Councillors, including report and presentation preparation for Council/Committee meetings.

Skills & Experience

  1. A minimum of 5 years' relevant experience in a highly politicised and/or sensitive environment
  2. Current NSW Driver's License
  3. Experience managing multiple complex projects as the 'client side'
  4. Ability to manage competing tasks with high attention to detail and meet deadlines
  5. Excellent communication skills - verbal and written
  6. Intermediate computer skills
