Responsibilities

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a dynamic Accounts Payable Manager. You will be responsible for managing, planning and directing the workflow, daily operations, and continual development of systems and processes of the Accounts Payable Department.  ln this role, you will maintain the standards of excellence set forth in the department. You will communicate and solve complex problems with other departments, managers, employees, auditors and outside agencies.

This role will manage a team of seven and will reside at The Aerospace Corporation's corporate office in El Segundo, CA.

 

KEY FUNCTIONS

  • Manage, plan and direct the workflow and daily operations of all functions of the A/P Department
  • Ensure timely and accurate payment processing for all vendors and employee reimbursements
  • Responsible for processing of vendor invoices, recurring payments, reimbursements, P-Cards, and ACH, and wires
  • Responsible for month end and year end close/accruals
  • Responsible for processing and reporting of 1099 forms
  • Review reconciliations of A/P accounts and develop internal controls for accounting procedures that ensure accurate posting of A/P related transactions
  • Identify A/P related system processing issues and develop a workable solution
  • Maintain communication and resolve problems with other corporate departments, managers, employees, auditors and various outside agencies
  • Continually evaluate and monitor internal control processes and procedures to improve productivity and effectiveness
  • Identify areas for opportunities to streamline processes by continually reviewing how work is performed and implement appropriate changes
  • Serve as a resource to staff, department heads and others for interpreting policies, procedures and regulations relating to A/P
  • Collaborate with Information Technology (IT) and SAP Financial Systems SAP on upgrades and testing
  • Maintain standards of excellence and standardization of A/P processes, including benchmarking and performance evaluations
  • Participate in development, implementation of projects, tasks and/or initiatives that align with management’s goals
  • Manage training and development of the technical skills of the A/P team

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum of 10 years of diverse experience in Accounts Payable
  • Five years of experience leading or directing and developing departmental staff
  • Effective written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels of staff and management
  • Ability to build partnerships with various departments
  • Ability to manage, monitor and oversee implemented internal controls which ensure compliance of corporate policies and established procedures
  • The ability to interact with internal and external auditors to ensure successful audits
  • Experience as a functional SAP user or similar ERP tools
  • Proficiency in standard office tools (Excel, Word and Power Point)

 

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Accounting or Business field
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
  • Experienced functional user of ReadSoft (A/P automated tool) or other automated A/P systems
  • Experience with system implementation and/or process improvements
