    About the Position:
    This is a Military Technician position with the US Army Reserves. Becoming a Military Technician allows you to experience the best of two worlds by taking advantage of the opportunity to become a Citizen Soldier in the US Army Reserve Military Technician program. This enables you to receive full civil service benefits and military reserve benefits. Military Technicians are a vital link between the US Army Reserves and civil service and are one of the most important keys to combat readiness.

    This position is located: 99th Regional Support Command (RSC), Equipment Transition Site, Fort Dix, New Jersey.

    Working Environment: Work is performed in a maintenance shop setting.

    Responsibilities
    • Operate a variety of diesel and gasoline powered equipment to include generators, wheeled/track vehicles, and semi-trailer combinations up to 70 ton capacity.
    • Operate various types of forklifts ranging from 2,000 lbs to 50,000 lbs capacity rough terrain (RT), and various types of wheeled and tracked cranes up through 25 ton loading, unloading, warehousing and preparing equipment and supplies for transport.
    • Performs preventative maintenance checks and services.
    • Performs operator maintenance to include servicing vehicle braking systems, checking vehicle lights, and taking oil samples.
    • Receives incoming warehouse items and equipment and checks them for damage and serviceability.
    • Issues/receives equipment; stores equipment in the warehouse; loads outgoing equipment.
    • Prepares and posts documents for the Army Oil Analysis Program and dispatching equipment.
    • Prepares accountability documents and warehouse reports.

    Occasional travel - The business travel requirement is 10%.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

    Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR~ without more than normal supervision. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: Operate vehicles and equipment such as generators, wheeled/track vehicles, semi trailers, forklifts, cranes, and construction/engineer equipment; perform operator and preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment; and perform warehousing tasks.
    Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

    You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
    • Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element)
    • Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles) and Ability to Operate Safely (Non-Motor Vehicle)
    • Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation)
    • Operation of Motor Vehicles
    • Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order)

    Physical Effort Required: Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require the worker to stand, stoop, bend, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Works at a rapid pace for long periods of time. Moderate physical effort is used in operating hand and foot controls when driving, turning, stopping and starting the forklifts and motor vehicles and in raising, lowering and tilting the forklift loads. Frequently lifts and carries supplies, material and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.

    Working Conditions: Subject to working outdoors during periods of inclement weather. Is exposed to serious injuries while operating vehicles over public roads and on the installation. Works on concrete floors and in drafty areas. May be exposed to fumes, fluids, dirt, battery acids, etc., resulting in bruises, cuts, burns, and skin irritation. Wearing of hearing protection and other safety equipment is required during all periods of exposure to hazardous conditions.
