Dean of Humanities   General Employee Responsibilities Comply with local, state, and federal guidelines and laws. Comply with Northeast State Community College and Tennessee Board of Regents policies, procedures, and guidelines.Comply with SACSCOC (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges) standards and guidelines.Promote and maintain College and TBR Mission, Vision, and Values.Promote and comply with Northeast State Community College SAFE Campus programs.Maintain digital calendar and archive annually on June 30. Provide supervisor with access to calendar and an archived copy of calendar for annual performance review.Seek professional and personal growth opportunities.Lead/promote College and TBR initiatives as they relate to this office.In all duties assigned, show a commitment to quality, customer service, and Northeast State Community College:  to include students, College employees, and the community served by Northeast State.  Be an active and contributing part of the Northeast State Team.Follow professional code of conduct and ethics; maintain professional dress in compliance with expectations of the position.Complete other assignments as directed by supervisor/President.Utilize effective interpersonal skills in working with internal and external stakeholders.   Specific Role and Responsibilities Provides overall leadership, management, and supervision of all aspects of their discipline-specific academic division.Provides immediate supervision and leadership for faculty, adjunct faculty, and staff.Collaborates with Human Resources and Evening Services to hire both full-time and adjunct faculty; ensures all classes are staffed by qualified faculty; and provides training appropriate to courses taught.Develops strategic and technology plans for the campus.Develops and recommends an annual budget for campus operations.Monitors assigned budgets and accounts for expenditures.Prepares class schedules for the division each semester; monitors enrollment and makes appropriate adjustments.Assists Multi-Campus Programs in developing class schedules at off-campus teaching sites.Maintains records germane to the operation of the academic division.Acts as the primary liaison between the faculty and senior administration.Assists in recruitment, advisement, and registration activities as appropriate.Initiates and completes annual employee performance reviews and maintains related records.Assists in institutional and division-specific accreditation processes.Provides assistance and direction in curriculum development for the division.Perform academic planning and periodic analysis of existing divisional courses/programs.Assists in implementing Tennessee Board of Regents and institutional policy for the division.Work with academic administrators in planning faculty and staff development programs.Insure that all divisional programs are congruent with and viable for business and industry needs within the College's service area.Develop and/or continue to maintain advisory committee as appropriate.Assist in the preparation of proposals and implementation of grants (federal, state, and private)In all duties assigned show a commitment to customer service to include students, college employees, and the community-at-large.Performs other duties as assigned.     Requirements of the Position   Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements Education - Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution is required in division-specific discipline.Experience - Five (5) years of full-time faculty experience.Technology Skills: MS Office skills, Word, Excel, Access; digital records management systems; general operating systems and data information systemsExperience in a comprehensive community college preferred.   Preferred Skills   Behaviors: Accountable to stakeholdersProfessional demeanor, communication, and attireProficient functioning in a team-oriented environmentDependable Skills/Abilities:  Effective, positive personnel, supervisory, and management skillsAbility to communicate with individuals from a wide range of diverse socioeconomic backgrounds, both orally and in writingCapable of managing time and workload to meet strategic planning, budgeting, and any other assigned deadlines     Compensation: Annual salary dependent on education and experience.
