Deloitte's team of Forensic professionals identify and investigate a wide range of business irregularities and deliver clear, logical analyses and reports.  We apply a variety of quantitative and qualitative techniques to analyze and mitigate alleged incidents of wrongdoing, identify the participants, secure evidence, locate/recover misappropriated assets and bring about a timely resolution to financial litigation.  We advise clients and their counsel by identifying, investigating and resolving financial irregularities and other behavior resulting in financial, security, and reputational and/or regulatory risk. The Forensic team also works with clients and their counsel to address complex and unexpected business disputes, insurance claims, class actions and associated litigation as well as computer forensic and e-discovery matters.

More specifically, the Deloitte Forensic team focuses on investigating allegations of fraud, theft, money laundering, bribery and corruption, other financial irregularities and regulatory issues impacting clients in Canada and worldwide across all industries. In addition, the Forensic team supports the Deloitte Global Centre for Crisis Management in various capacities, including intelligence collection and reporting related to financial crime, geopolitical security, reputational threats, industry risks and regulatory developments.

Deloitte Forensic is seeking a Business Intelligence Services Analyst with experience in Risk Sensing, Social Media, Crisis Response, Forensic Investigations and similar issues to join the team.

As an Analyst you will:

  • Work collaboratively as part of a diverse team of talented intelligence analysts, advisors, accountants and investigators
  • Conduct environmental scans, build monitoring dashboards and risk sensing models using digital/social communications software tools
  • Participate in Open Source Information Collection (i.e., social media, research engines, government databases, etc.)
  • Analyze financial data, legal documents, accounting and email records
  • Collect, verify and analyze information relevant to past and current geopolitical and industry risks.
  • Produce intelligence reports based on information pulled from a variety of public and confidential sources
  • Identify issues and recommend solutions to project teams
  • Prioritize objectives, contribute to project planning and status reporting
  • Contribute to practice growth and development
  • Participate in the development and delivery of training programs

External Posting Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in History, Journalism, Political Science, Sociology, International Studies, Criminology or a related field with outstanding academic credentials
  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience (a background in communications, journalism, or social/digital media is considered an asset)
  • Experience with open source intelligence collection, social media listening, regulatory databases or industry news monitoring
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail
  • Strong commitment to professional client service excellence
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, shifting deadlines and deliver excellent work under tight timelines
  • Excellent interpersonal relations and demonstrated ability to work with others effectively in teams
  • Proven research and analytical skills and problem solving abilities required
  • Experience developing client-ready reports and presentations using a range of industry standard software (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, etc.)
  • Knowledge and ongoing awareness of current events required
  • Ability to develop and present new ideas and conceptualize new approaches and solutions
  • Knowledge of Open Source Information Collection methods (i.e., social media, research engines, government databases, etc.) and direct analysis of geopolitical trends, security incidents and potential business interruptions
  • Experience with project problem diagnosis, solution development, client communications, facilitation of decision making, documentation, managing client expectations and team leadership
  • Basic knowledge of a second language is considered an asset
