General Information

 

Reporting to the Manager of Engineering Services, the Team Leader will be responsible for providing direction, oversight, and completion of a high visibility program related to facility drawings.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead and provide strategic direction for a team of internal drafters, designers, and drawing management personnel to develop updated facility drawings and clean-up the drawing repository for ease of locating drawings;
  • Coordinate the team to deliver program scope of work consistent with strategic initiatives across functional and regional boundaries by coordinating with Operations, Technical Services, and Project Engineering;
  • Maintain safety as the foundation for all activities;
  • Hire, mentor, and performance manage staff through leadership, motivation, counseling and training; provide developmental opportunities;
  • Establishes team goals, objectives, and strategies; optimize work practices and processes; perform project audits and provide feedback to enhance learning and ensure compliance to standards and processes;
  • Work collaboratively with other project groups to share and implement best practices, and promote efficiencies where appropriate;
  • Ensure drawing deliverables meet quality standards;
  • Oversee and track the work of staff to ensure program is executed and managed in accordance with approved plans, schedules and budgets;
  • Develop and implement consistent project cost estimating guidelines for the long-term strategy of the program;
  • Manage program level budgeting and forecasting for labor and expenses;
  • Plan and set schedule for site visits and drawing completion activities;
  • Develop and communicate program scorecard to stakeholders; analyze trends on program performance metrics and make recommendations to leadership on corrective actions;
  • Contribute to the continual improvement of the company’s drawing collection management tools and processes;
  • Other tasks as required.

 

Qualifications and Education

 

Qualifications

  • Leadership skills; ability to create a vision, clearly communicate direction and drive to goal completion;
  • Effective stakeholder management skills;
  • Understands and expresses complex and sensitive concepts clearly, correctly and in a well-organized form;
  • Must be able to process information quickly and make decisions under stress;
  • Must be able to effectively communicate across all cultural and company boundaries;
  • Skilled in the areas of collaboration, negotiation and influencing, process mapping, problem solving and creative solutions;
  • Ability to recognize strategic implications of problems and issues.

 

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required. Process or Mechanical Engineering preferred; other engineering disciplines will be considered based on experience;
  • Minimum 10 years of applicable gas industry experience required;
  • Understands concepts of asset lifecycle management, system reliability and gas transmission operations;
  • Extensive knowledge in compressor stations and meter stations drawings;
  • Working knowledge of engineering design standards and applicable natural gas industry codes and regulations; must stay current on technology and industry standards;
  • Experience in a formal leadership role preferred;
  • Experience in Project Engineering Management or Construction Management is preferred;
  • Experience with software applications such as SAP, MS project, Excel, etc.;
  • A proven track record of effective control of project cost expenditures.

 

*This position requires travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home.
