Function Overview

The Assembly and Finishing Manager is responsible for ensuring the uninterrupted operation of the Assembly and Finishing equipment while achieving the highest level of safety, quality, up-time, and waste elimination through well-established quality maintenance programs and deployment of advanced WPS tools. The  Assembly and Finishing Manager will offer hands on trouble-shooting support to the assigned Technical Engineers ensuring OEE (overall equipment effectiveness)/Assembly Yield/First Pass Yield of process equipment including the improvement of MTBF (mean time between faults) and reduction in MTTR (mean time to repair).

 

Job description:

  • Responsible for the engineering resources that maintain and/or procure all process equipment and related documentation for the assembly and finish areas in the manufacturing plant.  This includes:  Equipment drawings, tool drawings, PFMEA's (process failure model effects analysis), control plans, and software/equipment back-up programs, etc.   

  • Drive kaizen/projects in areas of waste defined through CD (cost deployment).

  • Train, coach, and support the deployment of sophisticated WPS tools on more complex problems (e.g. major and advanced projects utilizing statistical methods to reduce variation).  

  • Direct Engineering staff in reducing variation associated with equipment life,  cost, and other improvements in assigned business unit of responsibility.

  • Provide process/mechanical support to the business unit assigned which includes, but is not limited to: Process parameter standardization and monitoring, in-process tolerance, cycle time management, etc.

  • Drive and support the cultural change required within the assigned work team to ensure successful implementation of WPS.

  • Responsible for development and forecast of department budget.

  • Responsible for tracking Key Activity Indicators and Key Performance Indicators for the department and areas of responsibility.

  • This position interfaces with the Category Business Team and key trade partners (Lowes; Home Depot; Sears;...) as well as coordinating special requests and minor model line changes from the customer and/or product engineering.

  • Limited travel up to 10%

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required

  • 10+ years of manufacturing experience

  • 5+ years Process Development and/or Project Management experience 

  • 5+ years of Engineering Management experience

 

Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree is a plus

  • World Class Manufacturing (WCM) experience

  • Experience with MTBF, MTTR
