Position Summary



The Manager of Physician Contract Compliance position reports directly to the Centura Health Vice President, Corporate Responsibility Officer and is responsible for managing physician relationship compliance matters across the entire health system. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, reviewing all requests for physician contracts and providing compliance approval, providing tools to assist with fair market value analysis as well educating associates on how to perform fair market value analysis, managing the independent valuation process and contractual relationships with independent valuation firms, investigating potential concerns specific to financial relationships between physicians and the organization, performing and/or reviewing monitoring and auditing activities, and other projects as necessary. The Manager understands federal and state laws and regulations regarding physician self-referral (commonly known as Stark law), Anti-kickback statute, fraud and abuse, and tax-exemption. The individual can perform and teach others how to perform fair market value analyses and is financially literate. The Manager is familiar with various compensation models related to employed and non-employed physicians. The Manager has good knowledge of hospital and physician practice operations. The individual is responsible for working closely with the corporate legal department, contract coordinators, and executives. The position requires periodic travel to various Centura facilities and business offices.



Minimum Education Requirements




  • Bachelor Degree

  • Law Degree or Graduate Degree preferred



Minimum Experience Requirements




  • 3 years of experience in health care compliance, physician contracting, valuation, or in a related area

  • Experience with contracts

  • Familiarity with various physician compensation models and understanding of wRVUs

  • Communicate effectively with all position levels

  • Confident and ability to work through disagreements or differing opinions as needed

  • Makes right decisions under pressure

  • Detail oriented with capability to prioritize and organize high volumes of tasks

  • Analytical

  • Excellent computer and web-based application skills

  • Financially literate and strong mathematical skills

Position Duties (essential functions denoted with an *)




  • Reviews all proposed physician contracts for compliance with policy as well as Federal and State healthcare laws and regulations. Reviews the business case, fair market value analysis, community need (as applicable) to validate the analysis is accurate and supported. *

  • Manages the fair market value analysis process by providing fair market value tools, educating associates on how to perform fair market value analysis, and managing the independent valuation process and contractual relationships with independent valuation firms. *

  • Maintains the physician contracting policy, and corresponding worksheets, and works with multiple Centura representatives to revise and update as needed. *

  • Participates in process improvement initiatives surrounding the physician contracting process. *

  • Serves as a subject matter expert and resource for individuals or entities to ask questions and seek guidance on physician relations compliance and/or physician contract compliance matters.*

  • Performs and/or reviews monitoring and auditing activities related to financial relationships between physicians and the organization. Coordinates remediation as needed. *

  • Performs investigations and assists with field investigations as requested/needed.

  • Trends and reports data.

  • Develops and performs training and education.

  • Leads meetings.
