Scope of Position (i.e. projects involved with and role within group):

We are seeking a technically curious, hands-on technologist to work on materials science and processing problems. Successful candidates should have a B.S. degree in Materials Science and Engineering, and have demonstrated skills and interest in laboratory science. This position offers the opportunity to support several scientists and project teams, working on forming and finishing problems to deliver processes and ceramic compositions to meet new product targets, and to enable manufacturing success.


Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Running rheology tests in the lab in support of novel compositions and processes

• Supporting extrusion experiments

• Helping to design, develop and run new equipment and processes

• Communications via team meetings, memos and internal reports

• Run laboratory paste cement experiments

• Collaborate with colleagues in Research, Development, and Engineering to design, execute, and analyze experiments


Travel Requirements (please note if international): Minimal but occasional domestic visits to vendors, potential for infrequent visits to internationally located plants


Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

• Flex time with supervisor’s agreement

• 40 hours per week


Education and Experience (minimum required for consideration)  B.S. Materials Science & Engineering


Required Skills (These are skills that candidates MUST possess)

• Laboratory skills especially in ceramic/materials processing

• Data analytical skills

• Good time management skills

• Basic understanding of materials characterization techniques including microscopy, XRD, porosimetry, and strength measurements


Desired Skills (These are skills that would be nice for candidates to possess)

• Prior experience with ceramic paste rheology, basic understanding of ceramic processing including batch formulations, firing

• Experimental design skills
