Pool Attendant 1

Basic Function

Under general supervision, acts as lifeguard, promotes water safety among guests using the pool, maintains the indoor pool, whirlpool, pool deck, patio, and grounds of the hotel.  Effects necessary repairs and performs necessary cleaning in a manner that is responsive to guest satisfaction in a safe manner.  The Lifeguard is also responsible for routine custodial and grounds keeping duties

General Knowledge, Skill and Ability

  1. Requires ability to take written and verbal direction. 
  2. Requires ability to communicate in a friendly manner with guests in order to create a warm, comfortable, relaxing environment. 
  3. Requires knowledge of hotel accommodations, the community and pool hours. 
  4. Requires ability to conduct accurate inventory of pool supplies and calculate order levels.

Mental and Physical Requirements

EDUCATION: Requires knowledge, skill and mental ability equivalent to completion of 2 years of high school.  Requires Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.

EXPERIENCE: Previous experience in working with the public and prior lifeguard experience preferred, but not required.

PHYSICAL SKILLS: Requires ability to perform lifesaving techniques to maintain guest safety in the event of a pool emergency.  Requires ability to lift 15 - 25 pounds intermittently during work shift.

Working Relationships

  1. Reports to General Manager.
  2. Cooperates with Guest Service Agents and other team members.
