Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Scope of Position:

The responsibility of a Supply Chain Intern is to learn and apply SCM best practices and processes to given projects for the Hickory plant. The intern will learn and support overall production and supply chain strategies and processes through work assignments.

Day to Day Responsibility:

Apply supply chain skills and knowledge to their assigned projects. The candidate should be able to utilize and build on solid supply chain fundamentals to complete assignments.

Travel Requirement:

Limited US travel

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

40 hrs / week Mon – Fri Core Hours

Required Education:

Pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management or equivalent, with a 3.0 GPA or higher.

 Require Skills:

  • MS Office (PowerPoint, Word and Excel)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, and solve complex problems
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic business and manufacturing environment

 Desired Skills:

  • SAP knowledge and experience
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks

 Soft Skills:

  • Project planning
  • Adaptable and flexible attitude
