Security Supervisor

Position Summary

This position provides a wide range of security services to all business units and staff functions located on Bridgestone Americas' Akron campus.  These services include, but are not limited to:


  • Security awareness and loss prevention programs
  • Incident response and investigations
  • Emergency preparedness, crisis management, and business continuity
  • Security programs for major events such as Indy races and the Bridgestone Invitational
  • Security surveys and risk analyses of facilities and operations
  • Budget development and management to optimize security services and control costs
  • Plans, develops, and manages the corporate physical security program and associated operations on the Akron campus.  Related responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    • Managing, coaching, and developing proprietary security professionals who deliver comprehensive security services
    • Overseeing the contract guard program day-to-day and managing the relationship with the contractor and the contract's requirements
    • Supervising the conduct of facility security audits on a regular basis to identify gaps and vulnerabilities, make recommendations for improvement, and influence and collaborate with management to ensure recommendations are timely addressed
    • Writing, getting approval of, and training teammates in policies and procedures for protecting teammates/contractors/visitors, property, and critical assets such as confidential information and trade secrets from crime, unauthorized disclosure, and misuse
  • Develops and documents standards for measuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the Akron Security Department, evaluates whether performance is consistent with established standards, and takes remedial action when needed
  • Evaluates risks and applies industry standards and best practices to establish security technology requirements; plan and oversee technology installation and maintenance; and anticipate, develop, and execute a life-cycle plan
  • Leads investigations.  Identifies lessons learned and takes responsive actions to prevent recurrences.  Where appropriate, works with the Law Department to prepare cases for presentation to local law enforcement and prosecuting agencies
  • Leads the design, development, training, exercise/testing, and maintenance of the Akron Campus' Business Assurance Program, including emergency preparedness, crisis management, and business continuity planning.  Coordinates with state and local emergency management authorities.  Is a first responder on behalf of Bridgestone Americas Corporate Security Department when Credit First National Association (CFNA) activates its Crisis Management Team
  • Develops and manages the department's annual Original Budget (OBud), as well as the mid-year Revised Budget (RBud), ensuring alignment with Bridgestone Americas' goals, controlling spending within budget, and identifying and implementing cost-savings measures
  • Builds and maintains relationships with private-sector counterparts, appropriate service-providers, consultants, and government officials at all levels
  • Bachelors Degree with at least 5 years' experience directly related to the requirements of the role, plus a minimum of 3 years' experience as a security supervisor
  • Knowledge of generally accepted industry standards and best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate well, verbally and in writing, at all levels
  • Exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead under pressure / in a crisis
  • Demonstrated ability to identify problems, assess risks, make cost-effective recommendations, take follow-up actions, and develop and implement programs
  • Working knowledge of investigative techniques and an understanding of related legal parameters
  • Self-starter and capable of handling multiple projects with varying and sometimes competing priorities
  • Demonstrated team leadership capabilities
  • Solid computer skills to include the Microsoft Office Suite of programs
