The Role

Are you passionate about performance testing high quality software to delight customers? Do you desire to work in a start-up like software development environment using agile methodologies and open source tools and frameworks? Do you want to design and build SaaS solutions using the latest cloud-based micro-services architectures and tools? If so, the performance test development team at CCCIS Chicago has a great opportunity for you. We are a small high performing team working to deliver innovative Performance Testing Solutions for CCCIS's internal needs.

As a software developer in our performance test team, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of a Performance test harness which can respond to changing test scenario requirements, including the ability to dynamically change the volumes, think time and other settings - integrated into the CI pipeline - and with a dashboard capability in real time and post-test. If you want more challenge you can build a quality gate platform to automate the execution, evaluation and analysis of Performance Tests. Pulling these two projects together will be our foundation for Continuous Performance Engineering. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a team environment with experienced developers to creatively address our team's needs. Candidates who have an insatiable appetite for learning and technical challenges and want to keep abreast of the latest cloud-based tools and technologies thrive in our team. They bring new ideas to consistently move our methodologies forward and lead by example in efficiently delivering high quality software and code review feedback. Successful candidates will have strong technical skills, be self-motivated, and demonstrate the willingness to own and drive problems to resolution both inside and outside of their core areas of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work as an individual developer to develop and enhance performance tests suites, build framework for our continuous performance engineering solution (CPE).
  • Work in JMeter, Splunk, MetaBase, AWS, NeoLoad and Jenkins tools to refine/rewrite existing CPE solutions.
  • Author and review High level design, Low Level Design for the CPE platform.
  • Author Performance tests in JMeter and NeoLoad.
  • Contribute to load, performance, service reliability, and stress testing.
  • Contribute creative ideas to evolve our agile-based development and testing methodologies.

Requirements:

  • Progressing to a Bachelor's degree with classwork based software development and debugging experience in Java, C++, or other high-level programming language
  • Exemplary written communication skills
  • Direct experience in creating Performance test scripts via JMeter.

Other Beneficial Skills

  • Direct experience building CI Pipelines using/integrating multiple tools like beanshell server in JMeter, Jenkins, or other CI tools.
  • Experience with AWS or Azure, Docker.
