Description

Tenure faculty (regardless of rank) - persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty members tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations will include research, service and/or teaching or clinical practice. These faculty will have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience.

The Department of Neurological Surgery at The Ohio State University College of Medicine is initiating a search for multiple tenure track faculty positions; positions are available at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor levels. This position works closely with translational scientists across basic science departments and within the Gene Therapy Institute.

The Ohio State University Gene Therapy Institute is a newly organized interdisciplinary community bringing together world-class faculty with diverse expertise in the area of gene therapy research. Successful applicants will join a rapidly growing research environment dedicated to translating laboratory discoveries through preclinical basic science characterization to first in human clinical testing. Gene Therapy Institute faculty are building a multi-disciplinary, collaborative, research environment to rapidly advance therapies to treat disease. Individuals with research interests in novel gene therapy approaches (viral, non-viral) to manipulate brain function in health and disease are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

Required: Candidates should have a Ph.D., and/or M.D. degree, post-doctoral training, a commitment to basic and/or translational neuroscience, and a history of strong research productivity. Individuals will be evaluated on their ability to establish innovative independent research programs as well as develop collaborative ideas of focus with existing programs.
