This person will oversee content strategy execution, curate the editorial calendar, create social media content, provide support and guidance to student content creators, and implement campaigns across various social media platforms.The Social Media Specialist will leverage best practices and trends in social media marketing and communications; enjoy being creative and strategic; possess excellent writing and proofreading skills; enjoy working independently and collaboratively; and understand how to build and convert a digital audience. - Lead the day-to-day management of Auxiliary Services' social media platforms, ensuring that content aligns with overall communications strategies.
- Curate and maintain the social media calendar, ensuring timely content creation and posting across all channels.
- Provide real-time social media coverage for Auxiliary Services events and storytelling opportunities.
- Produce and edit social media videos for Auxiliary Services departments.
- Ensure that video content is uploaded to social media accounts.
- Uphold the Auxiliary Services and University of Georgia brand and communications guidelines for social media accounts, including messaging, visual identity, logos, hashtags, tagging, about information, and banner photography.
- Stay current with platform updates, trends, and best practices to enhance content.
- Make the Public Relations and Communications Director aware of pending issues.
- With guidance from the Public Relations and Communications Director, fulfill social media duties during emergency communications situations.
- Coordinate and lead projects to create social media content using a team of Student Videographers, Auxiliary Student Ambassadors, Graphic Designers, Public Relations Assistants, and other campus partners.
- Manage projects using divisional project management tools, ensuring clear communication, milestone tracking, and timely delivery.
- Work with the Public Relations and Communications Director and the Marketing Specialist to develop and oversee social media content strategy, ensuring alignment with Auxiliary Services' goals and overall communications strategies.
- Monitor for potential storytelling opportunities and leverage those when deemed appropriate.
- Attend editorial planning meetings and other integrated strategy meetings.
- Oversee the monthly creation of social media analytics reports.
- Analyze content performance, engagement data, and campaign performance.
- Provide insights and recommendations for optimization.
- Work with the Public Relations and Communications Director to respond to user engagement, monitor feedback, and proactively join conversations to increase audience interaction and awareness.
