A registered nurse provides and holds ultimate responsibility for nursing care to patients and their families in a variety of settings. These responsibilities include assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation for a complex patient population. The incumbent attends to the full range of human experiences and responses to health and illness, without restriction, to a problem-focus orientation; integrates objective data with knowledge gained from an understanding of the patients or group's subjective experiences; applies scientific knowledge to the process of diagnosis and treatment; provides a caring relationship that facilitates health and healing; adheres to the Board of Registration in Nursing rules and regulations, ANA scope and standards of pediatric nursing, the ANA code of ethics for nursing and other regulatory stipulations. In collaboration with the nurse manager/director, assists in the coordination of patient care services for area(s) of responsibility.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.CLINICAL JUDGEMENT: Clinical reasoning, which includes clinical decision-making, critical thinking, and a global grasp of the situation, coupled with nursing skills acquired through a process of integrating formal and experiential knowledge

2.CLINICAL INQUIRY: The ongoing process of questioning and evaluating practice and providing informed practice. Creating practice changes through research utilization and experiential learning.

3.CARING PRACTICES: Constellation of nursing activities that are responsive to the uniqueness of the person that creates a compassionate and therapeutic environment, with the aim of promoting comfort and preventing unnecessary suffering. Caring behaviors extend to all members of the care team.

4.RESPONSE TO DIVERSITY: Sensitivity to recognize, appreciate, and incorporate differences and preferences into the provision of care. Differences may involve patients/family and members of the healthcare team.

5.ADVOCACY/MORAL AGENCY: Working on another's behalf and representing the concerns of the patient/family/community; serving as a moral agent in identifying and helping to resolve ethical and clinical concerns within the clinical setting.

6.FACILITATOR OF LEARNING: Ability to facilitate patient, family and staff learning across the care continuum. Contributes to a learning environment characterized by safe discourse, mentoring and team development.

7.COLLABORATION: Working with others (patients/families/healthcare providers/community) to promote and encourage each person's contributions toward achieving optimal and realistic patient goals. Collaboration involves interdisciplinary work with colleagues and ability to negotiate and resolve conflict.

8.SYSTEMS THINKING: Body of knowledge that allows the nurse to manage whatever environmental and system resources that exist for the patient and family, within or across healthcare systems.

Job Requirements:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Work requires the knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts acquired through graduation from an approved school of professional nursing and current license as a registered nurse as described in the next section. A Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is preferred.

Work requires the analytical skills to resolve highly complex problems requiring the application of clinical, scientific or technical principles, theories and concepts and in-depth, cross-functional experienced-based knowledge. Prior experience is not required.

Work requires communication skills in order to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues and mediate fair solutions, or well-developed writing skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35.75 - $45.00 per hour
