Description

EBS, an IMA Company, is an employee benefits broker located in Newton, MA. The Benefit Analyst (BA) is an entry level position with a career path in benefit consulting or another area within the organization. The Benefit Analyst assists the Employee Benefit Consulting Team in the day-to-day needs of EBS clients. Typical functions include but are not limited to sending new business and renewal quote requests to insurance carriers, creating, editing, and completing spreadsheets used in the renewal and new business process, and maintaining our customer relationship management system. Other duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare marketing spreadsheets as directed by Consulting Team with carrier information for review with clients. Compare marketing results and flag discrepancies/disruption in plan design.
  • Download experience reports from carrier websites, analyze/summarize trends in the claims experience, flag areas of concern, and create monthly reports and narrative to share with client. Communicate these trends in meetings when applicable.
  • Analyze reports to create budgets, utilization tables, and charts in excel to include in meeting presentations and year-round touch points with clients.
  • Prepare annual census/demographic analysis, flagging gaps in insurance and future trends based on results.
  • Oversee evaluation and implementation of new plans and programs, assisting clients with paperwork and product overview/installation calls.
  • Assists Consulting Team with preparation of client presentations, including claims review presentations, mid-year reviews, renewal, and post-renewal presentations.
  • Actively participate in client meetings when necessary.
  • Receive, research, and answer client questions. Assist in escalating employee claims issues when necessary.
  • Build and maintain relationships with carrier contacts.
  • Work collaboratively with Consulting Team to develop strategic direction of EBS clients.
  • Update/document renewal plan information in internal database system as well as assist in the onboarding and offboarding of clients.
  • Gather and review Summary Plan Descriptions and Schedule A's for 5500 filing.
  • Prepare annual benchmarking reports and share with clients.
  • Prepare open enrollment and year-round communications such as benefit summaries, guides, employee meeting presentations, memos, etc. Proof benefit information in communication materials created by marketing department.
  • Attend and assist with Open Enrollment meetings.
  • Attend implementation meetings when required.
  • Attend carrier meetings and training sessions.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Personable, highly motivated and goal oriented.
  • Interest in employee benefits.
  • Effectively manages multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Handle confidential information with tact and discretion.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suites with intermediate skills required, advanced excel preferred.
  • MA Health & Accident license preferred. If unlicensed, license must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
