Department Overview

Gas Operations is focused on ensuring the safe and reliable flow of natural gas to our customers. Gas Operations is responsible for all aspects of PG&E's gas distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, restoration, and emergency response.

The Damage Prevention & Compliance organization supports PG&E's mission to protect underground gas and electric facilities from damage during excavation activities. This is done through a multi-faceted approach including locating underground assets through the 811 system, monitoring high risk excavation activities, Public Awareness, Pipeline Patrols, Outreach & Education, Damage Recovery efforts & more. PG&E's Damage Prevention activities are performed in compliance with 49 CFR 192 subparts L and M and California Government Code section 4216.

Pipeline Patrols is responsible for the monitoring of PG&E's Gas Transmission Rights of Way (ROW) through Fixed Wind and Helicopter patrols, ground patrols and the use of emerging technology. While the Pipeline Patrols is focused primarily on Gas Transmission assets and ROWs, the group also supports Gas Distribution Integrity Management through patrolling activities.

Position Summary

This Gas T&D Operations Supervisor position (Pipeline Patrols Supervisor) will be responsible for leading the Pipeline Patrols team which consists of represented and non-represented coworkers. The Pipeline Patrols supervisor is responsible for managing teams directly or indirectly involved in operations & maintenance of the gas transmission and distribution system including completing all unplanned, emergent work and all compliance driven program work. The Supervisor is responsible for work management, training, training development and process improvements for this team across PG&Es service territory. The supervisor is responsible for safety leadership and a fostering a culture that embraces our stands of "Everyone and Everything is Always Safe" among all coworkers.

While Pipeline Patrols' primary mission is safety, system integrity and compliance driven, the group also supports internal customers through providing resources to improve efficiency with initiative such as Aerial LiDAR collection, storm response, etc.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

* Completion of all planned, unplanned and emergent work

* Execute the required Operations & Maintenance Plan for Pipeline Patrols.

* Document completed work with updates in repositories such as Enterprise Systems (GIS), SAP, etc.

* Make minor adjustments to achieve the workplan as established by codes or regulations

* Communicate concerns regarding scope, schedule, and cost to Resource Management for adjustment

* Work Forecasting

* Emergency response & fulfillment of Incident Commander role

* Develop work force strategy (internal & external)

* Inspect & validate work

All leaders provide safe gas services while maintaining compliance with all relevant safety and regulatory requirements. Leaders demonstrate safety leadership and promote a safety culture among all employees for themselves, customers, and the general public. Contribute toward Gas Safety Excellence goals by improving safety, reliability and affordability for one or more asset families and one or more life cycles.

Position will require up to approximately 75% of travel time in work schedule.

This position is a DOT (Department of Transportation) covered classification and is subject to random drug and/or alcohol screening.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum:$129,000

Bay Area Maximum:$207,000

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.

Qualifications-

Minimum Qualifications:

* High-School Diploma or GED

* CA Driver's License

* 5 years of relevant experience. Relevant experience may include exposure to utility, maintenance, construction, operations, logistics or service planning work.

Desired Qualifications:

* Previous leadership experience, e.g., as a supervisor, crew lead, etc..

* Experience leading union- represented employees.

* Utility experience.

* Experience serving and meeting the needs of internal and/or external customers.

Responsibilities:

* Manages a team (a team of gas craft employees), ensuring compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements and alignment with company values.

* Serves customers by providing timely completion of pipeline patrol, work documentation, quality control and general gas system integrity work. Ensures that work is executed safely including personal and public safety metrics.

* Manages emergency responses to all requests including equipment maintenance, ensuring employees respond in a timely manner and provide total quality service.

* Monitors compliance to standards and specifications, to achieve high quality work the first time done. Develops action plans to address deficiencies in process or employee skill/knowledge and tracks the progress of those plans.

* Ensures work is executed within scope, schedule and cost expectations

* Identifies and pursues productivity improvements and implements work practices to reduce operating costs while meeting corporate and regulatory compliance.

* Completes and maintains all work documentation and/or reporting.

* Communicates business goals and objectives to the work group and holds all accountable to same.

* Develops the business knowledge and technical skills of all field employees. Fosters teamwork within work group and across all company functions.

* Ensures that customers' needs and expectations are met; ensures clear, professional, proactive communication with customers.

* Oversees both projects and 2nd party contracting within the area of responsibility

* Ensures mandated compliance dates and regulations are met

* Ensures compliance with 1) Pipeline Patrols Process codes, regulations & policies, 2) L&M tools and equipment as required by the CPUC.

* Leads root-cause investigations on all reportable events or instances of non-compliance.

* Monitors the Gas Operator Qualification (OQ) Program and ensures compliance. Maintains craft qualification records for employees as required by CPUC.

* Ensures all associated paperwork and work packages are accurate.

* Reviews all department maintenance documents for accuracy and completeness prior to filing for future reference or for audit purposes.
