Summary:
The Central Sterile Processing Supervisor leads daily operations of a centralized sterile re-processing work group for a given shift through the application of subject matter expertise, operations acumen and interpersonal leadership.
Responsibilities:
* Leads daily operations of a centralized sterile re-processing work group for a given shift.
* Supervises sterile processing personnel. Drives performance management tasks, including hiring, performance evaluations, counseling and disciplinary action. Trains new and entry-level staff.
* Organizes task assignments for staff within the work area for a given shift, such as preparing instrument trays or case carts.
* Leads and facilitates the hand-off of work to the following shift, ensuring continuity of work and ongoing anticipation of upcoming work.
* Assists with the establishment and refinement of work processes and standards, particularly for the adoption of new instruments or technology.
* Ensures the accuracy of the instrument tracking system database.
* Sterilizes equipment and instruments as needed to support team.
* Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, such as external vendors or the organization's Infection Control function to maintain and improve operations for the given shift.
Other information:
Required
* High School Diploma or Equivalent
* Certification in Sterile Processing and Distribution through the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)or Certification in Surgical Technology through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
* Two (2) years of experience working in a certified Sterile Processing role
* Experience performing in a leadership capacity.
* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs maximum and frequent lifting up to 25 lbs.
