GasOperationsisfocusedon ensuringthesafeandreliableflowof naturalgasto ourcustomers. As awhole,GasOperationsisresponsibleforallaspectsofPG&E'sgasdistributionandtransmissionoperations,includingplanning,engineering,maintenanceandconstruction, restorationand emergencyresponse.

Position Summary

Thisis anIBEWLocal1245represented classification,which hasover100yearsof experiencerepresentingemployeesatPG&Eand issubjecttocollectivebargaining.

We arelookingforan energetic andcareerorientedindividualto join ourGasTransmissionandDistributionteam.TheUtility Workerpositionis an entrylevel positioninGasOperationswithadvancementopportunitiesformotivatedindividualswho performsuccessfully.Workispredominantlyoutdoorsand in allweatherconditions.Theindividualmustbe ableto work anddrivesafely,workextendedhours,and wearcompanyprovidedPersonal Protective Equipment.

PG&E is providing the hourly rate that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time ofthe jobposting. This position issubject to collectively bargained hourly wage rates and increases. The starting wage rate for thisposition is $34.53 per hour. This wage rate is specific to the locality of the job. The wage rate is based on multiple factors,including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications,experience, market value, geographiclocation, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity.

This position is a DOT (Department of Transportation) covered classification and is subject to random drug and/or alcohol screening.

Per Letter of Agreement R1-22-04-PGE, an employee will be in a 2-year commitment within the headquarters.

Responsibilities

  • Followthedirectionof theirjourneyman,crewlead and/orsupervisorat alltimes.
  • Mustbe abletoreadandcomplywith allrequired company standardsand procedures.

  • ContributetowardGasSafety Excellencegoalsby improvingsafety, reliabilityand affordabilityforone ormoreassetfamiliesand one ormorelifecycles.

GasTransmissionand DistributionWorkgroup:

In additiontotheGeneralDuties listed above,candidates selectedto workinGasT&Dwill berequiredto performthefollowing:

  • Assistinconstructionandmaintenanceand othermiscellaneous semi-skilledwork.
  • Withadequatetrainingand underdirectionofaCrew Leader,mayberequiredto:use handtools,portablepowertools,pavementbreakers,spaders,tampersorcompactorsforworknotrequiringprecision;performpipewrapping duties.
  • Whenworkingalone,mayberequiredto beOperatorQualifiedto performroutineproductionLocateandMarkduties,routineproductionLeakSurveyduties, performpipetosoil readings,andAtmosphericCorrosionSurveys,andcompleteallrequireddocumentationsassociatedwithreferencedtasks.
  • Mayperformrechecksinconjunctionwith productionleaksurveyduties.
  • Mayberequiredto performtrafficcontrolfunctionsunderthedirectionofaGasCrew Leader.
  • Mayberequiredtomaintain a commercialdriver'slicensewithatankendorsement.
  • Thisclassification,when qualified,is expectedtotakethenecessaryactionconsistentwith dutiestheyarecapableof performingto assessa situationandmake afieldcondition safe forGasPipelineOperationsandMaintenanceWorkgroup.
  • Use of handtoolsor portable powertoolsforcleaningpurposesunderdirection,or otherworknotrequiringprecision.
  • Operatelight dutytrucksandassociatedtrailers.

MinimumQualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must possess a High School diploma or GED.
  • Must be able to wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Internal PG&E employees: Must have qualified on the Physical Test Battery (PTB) exam and Work Orientation Inventory Test (WOI), prior to applying for the position.
  • External and Hiring Hall Candidates: Must qualify on the Physical Test Battery (PTB) exam and Work Orientation Inventory Test (WOI), prior to interviewing.
  • Must be able to lift and maneuver up to 90 pounds
  • Must be able to passto passPostOfferPhysical Assessment.
  • Must pass Utility Worker Training course, which takes place for approx. 15 business days, during the first three weeks of employment.
  • Ability to work extended hours to include nights, weekends and holidays when required.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class C California Driver's License (or higher) by Day 1 of hire
  • Ability to work in all types of weather extremes.
  • Ability to drive safely in all weather and road conditions.
  • Ability to travel and transfer to a new headquarter upon request at any time; throughout the entire PG&E service territory with no guarantees on how long you will be assigned away from your base headquarters.

DesiredQualifications:

  • Previous experience in construction such as: Underground Utility, Trenching Equipment, Welding, Carpentry, Plumbing, Pipefitting, Farm Ranch Hand and/or Landscaping.
  • Previous Military experience.
  • Previous Locate and Mark experience at PG&E
  • Graduation from a PowerPathway Program is preferred.
  • Current or past work experience with PG&E and/or Hiring Hall.
  • To better represent the communities we serve within a timely manner, applicants who live within 50 miles of the headquarter location will be given preference
