Cleveland-Cliffs is currently recruiting upcoming college graduates for entry-level Associate Mechanical Engineer positions at our Burns Harbor facility in Burns Harbor, IN. The technologies that are employed today span 50 years, therefore, the range of knowledge required is broad from simple water-based hydraulics through highly sophisticated servo systems. Summary of Responsibilities: Recommend and/or perform predictive, preventative, and emergency maintenance of equipment Research, design, evaluate, install, modernize, re-design, operate, maintain, and repair machinery and equipment Resolve equipment malfunctions, including those requiring scheduled shutdowns or breakdown action Plan, schedule, and cost control of maintenance/engineering projects Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports Analyze current operating performance and standard operating procedures and making recommendations for improvement and various other duties as needed to support the business Potentially supervise a crew of hourly maintenance employees Rotating shift work may be required according to business needs Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or other related technical degrees Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience or internship/co-op in manufacturing Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. is the largest flat-rolled steel company and the largest iron ore pellet producer in North America.
