The School of Public Policy () has 63 faculty members and we instruct students in undergraduate, masters, and Ph.D. programs. The School of Public Policy works to define and shape the discourse around global public policies. Our research and curriculum focus on understanding the global impact of science, technology and innovation on society, and nurture transdisciplinary leaders who can analyze and make ethically-informed decisions in the public interest. The postdoctoral fellow will also be affiliated with the Ethics, Technology, and Human Interaction Center (ETHIC^x), with the opportunity to participate in and contribute to Center activities. The vision of ETHIC^x includes anticipating and understanding the consequences of technological innovations, and framing ethical concerns such as fairness, accountability, and transparency in technology-related research, practice, and education.

The School of Public Policy at Georgia Tech, together with the Ethics, Technology, and Human Interaction Center (ETHIC^x), invites applications for a Postdoctoral Teaching Fellowship in Ethics and Technology, starting August 1, 2024.

This is a two-year, non-renewable fellowship which includes research, a 2/2 teaching assignment, and service that relates broadly to the mission of ETHIC^x. The fellow will be expected to teach courses in practical ethics, which may include engineering ethics, environmental ethics, and/or science, technology, and human values. Interest in and capacity for teaching a course on AI Ethics & Policy would be especially valuable, as well as assisting in supervision of the Georgia Tech Ethics Bowl Team.

Job duties will include research, teaching and service activities at Georgia Tech.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. conferred by August 1, 2024, in a field related to ethics and technology, including philosophy of science and technology; science, technology, and society (STS); ethics of emerging technologies, and others. The Ph.D. must have been conferred within the last five years.

Preferred candidates will have university-level experience teaching courses in practical ethics or related topics.

Interested and qualified individuals should apply by submitting a curriculum vita, a letter of application that specifically addresses their qualifications to work in a practical ethics program at a technological university, and a list of three references.
