Department Overview

At PG&E, the Data and Analytics organization is focused on unlocking the value of PG&E's data to support the company's most pressing data needs. As part of that focus, we deliver data and AI/ML centric products to improve the safety, reliability, and affordability of energy for PG&E's customers. While playing a key role in providing a data management platform for all of PG&E, building products for users, and enabling the data governance practices needed to improve trust in data.

A critical part of how we operate is to apply design thinking, DevOps, Agile, and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) principles and methodologies. Through these principles, we work as cross functional teams to help deliver valued data products to our business partners.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Data Governance Analyst Tech Lead for the Data & Analytics Team. The successful candidate will join an IT data governance team and partner with the Enterprise Data Management team to develop data governance policies, standards, and procedures, as well as designing and implementing training on standards and procedures. You will facilitate the adoption of the established enterprise data governance framework to various lines of business and generate metrics to measure adherence to Enterprise Data Management standards.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and Oakland, CA based on business needs.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $109,000.00
Bay Area Maximum: $175,000.00

Job Responsibilities

  • Develops and deploys data governance framework/standards consisting of data policies and processes in the areas of data ingestion, data movement, data quality, master & reference data and data life cycle management.
  • Coordinates with various stakeholders across various organizations to apply established data governance framework (developing data stewardship, data custodian roles, data dictionary, metadata management, and access controls).
  • Ensures remediation plans are implemented where data fails to meet established data governance framework/standards.
  • Develops monitoring processes and conducts continuous reviews of data assets to ensure those data assets where data governance framework was established continue to be complying of the framework.
  • Owns developing and implementing enterprise tools to support Data Governance & Data Management, including Data Catalog, Metadata Management, Data Quality, Master & Reference Data Management
  • Mentors and reviews work of less experienced staff.

Qualifications

Minimum

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 7 years of experience in Data Governance implementation

Desired

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or Engineering.
  • Understands the data governance landscape, processes and design principles
  • Expertise in the use of metadata management, data quality, data catalog, and data stewardship tools and platforms
  • Experience in managing enterprise data assets in a large, complex organization
  • Experience with data governance technical enablement
  • Proven oral and written communication skills
  • Applies knowledge, skills, and techniques to define, control, report and improve processes
  • Detail-oriented with ability to focus on managing multiple reports and processes
  • Even-tempered, manages conflicts in a positive, non-abrasive manner, and comfortable interacting with individuals at all levels
  • Knowledge of utility data and processes including utility asset data, customer data and vegetation data
  • Proficiency with Master Data Management
  • Knowledge of Cloud based big data frameworks such as data lake, relational, Graph and other no-SQL databases
  • Experience with Agile and SAFe methodologies
