Position Summary
The Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP)Trainee participates in the treatment, monitoring and care of patients with respiratory disorders. The role of the Trainee is limited to the following functions in non critical care areas and while under direct supervision of a licensed respiratory care practioner : Vital Signs, Breath Sounds, Nebulizer treatments, Basic life support including: CPR, Manual ventilation and compression, Oral pharyngeal airway, Oximetry, Incentive Spirometry, Metered Dose Inhaler instruction, Peak flow monitoring, Oral Suctioning, Oxygen rounds, Oxygen therapy including: Nasal Cannula, Simple Masks, Venti Masks, Aerosol Masks, Charting and Documentation with accompanying licensed practitioner signature.
About Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) roles at Maine Medical Center: RRT's can participate in a four-tiered professional clinical ladder. New graduate therapists enter the clinical ladder as a Level 1 therapist. Once all orientation has been completed, they will have the opportunity to grow professionally as a highly skilled Level 2 RRT. Position Summary
