Department Overview

The Coworkers of Electric Operations ensure the delivery of clean, safe, reliable, and affordable energy to nearly 16 million people in Northern and Central California. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration, and emergency response.

Position Summary

The Electric Standards & Work Methods Specialist Expert, within the Substation Asset Management organization, provides expertise for leadership to ensure improved asset performance, safety, reliability and efficiency of field maintenance and construction processes and programs. Provides technical support for maintenance and construction organizations as a liaison and advocate. Incumbents provide communication and feedback on safety, maintenance and inspections processes, standards, and asset health into the development of asset repair/replace programs to ensure safe, reliable, and affordable electric service.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $118,000

Bay Area Maximum: $188,000

California Minimum: $112,000

California Maximum: $179,000

Job Responsibilities

Provides technical expertise, historical perspective, industry standard, and maintenance requirements to improve asset performance and worker safety.
Provides generalized support and input to overarching maintenance and inspection strategy organization.
Acts as a subject matter expert in area of substation maintenance and applies extensive knowledge of maintenance concepts, principles, and practices.
Leads asset team to partner with field supervisors and field specialists in developing or improving work procedures or processes based on strategic direction.
Performs advanced process mapping techniques. Provides review and oversight of documented maintenance standards and work procedures.
Performs equipment investigations and root cause analysis.
Mentors and provides maintenance practice guidance to less experienced specialists and engineers.
Drives effective business strategies and improvements in support of department goals and company objectives.
Assists in the development of the online monitoring program and other short-term mitigation programs.
Brings visibility to substation maintenance and inspection effectiveness by analyzing trends and areas of concern within the maintenance and inspection programs in support of improving overall asset management strategies. (TOA, APM, SAP etc.).
Travel varies per assignment and assignment location.

Qualifications

Minimum:

High School Diploma or GED
Eight (8) years in the electric utility industry.
Six (6) years combined experience as a maintenance specialist, maintenance engineer, Journeyman Electrician
or

Five (5) years' experience in a substation technical role including Project Manager, Engineering, Standards, System Planning, or System Operations role.

Certification in one or more of the following:

Journeyman Lineman, or Journeyman Cable Splicer, or Journeyman Electrician, or Journeyman Electrical Technician, or Journeyman System Operator, or Estimator/Associate Distribution Engineer (ADE) or, Accreditation in an engineering discipline.
Desired:

Associate degree or equivalent experience
Experience in utility construction, project management, system planning or system operations.
Job-related experience, 15 years
Basic Drivers License (Class C) standard vehicle or truck for personal use on California roadways
