Reporting to the Director of Advancement Services, the Advancement Services, Data Analytics and Gift Compliance Associate helps to ensure the quality and integrity of the organization's donor data, utilizing the FNIH's fundraising database for a variety of needs, including aiding with regular financial reconciliation, creating tracking reports and other analyses, and entering prospect and donor information. The Advancement Services Associate is also involved in proactive prospect management and generating reports using the FNIH donor database and various research tools and methods.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Data, Reporting, and Systems

  • Proactively design and produce fundraising analyses and financial/management reports for Strategic Alliances and Advancement, such as project dashboards, membership trackers, and financial reports.
  • Train all Strategic Alliances and Advancement staff on Raiser's Edge, providing regular refreshers, ensuring basic knowledge of standard operating procedures (SOPs), and developing advanced competency, including essential data export/reporting abilities.
  • Assist in establishing, and then implementing, processes and improvements to ensure the integrity of the database, including troubleshooting/identifying inconsistencies and making corrections. Regularly review data entries of other team members for accuracy and completeness, taking corrective action when appropriate, including processing bulk changes and providing additional information and training.
  • Assess the organization's current Raiser's Edge utilization and develop more effective policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with Finance to ensure accurate reconciliation of gift information as well as posting gifts to Financial Edge on a weekly basis.
  • Develop, refine, document, implement, and ensure that all Strategic Alliances and Advancement staff consistently and timely comply with current practices for donor and prospect information processing, coding, and recording in Raiser's Edge.

Prospect Research and Departmental Engagement

  • Acts as resident prospect research expert and administrator for all research tools and subscriptions and offers training, guidance and troubleshooting support for Strategic Alliances and Advancement staff, as needed.
  • Regularly vet current and potential donors to the FNIH, coordinating with prospect research staff, ensuring compliance with related policies and procedures.
  • Develops, updates, and maintains the major gift and organizational prospect research information in Raiser's Edge to monitor and report on prospects. Tracks top prospects to help fill the pipeline of donor prospects.
  • Composes accurate, well written documents (profiles, biographies, project summaries) using style, grammar, and content appropriate to specific audiences. Using creative research techniques, provides high-level research on individuals, corporations, and foundations using a wide variety of biographical, organizational, and financial sources, including online databases, websites, and other external repositories of public information to identify prospects.
  • Participates in Strategic Alliances and Advancement staff activities, projects and assignments and assumes other duties as assigned.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree with 1-3 years of administrative and/or nonprofit experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the following skills and abilities:

  • Proficiency with Raiser’s Edge
  • Excellent computer skills, including data entry, pulling lists and queries, and report generation
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple projects simultaneously, identify priorities and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of the range of resources available to prospect researchers and the ability to apply those resources in an organized and purposeful manner, including wealth screening and prospect research tools, such as iWave.
  • Discretion in handling confidential information relating to the giving history and backgrounds of donors/prospects.
  • Demonstrated initiative; ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience with Smartsheet a plus
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
