As a Home Health Occupational Therapy Assistant, here’s a big-picture view of what you’ll do:
• Teaches task orientated therapeutic activities per the plan of care
• Work as part of a home health team which may include an RN, LPN, CNA, HHA, PT, OT and SLP, focused on the patient’s plan of care and personal goals
• Participate in assessments for the patient, observe deficits, and work with the OT to establish therapy goals and document progress
• Assist patient with exercises to improve fine motor skills and coordination
• Educate patient and family on plan of care, exercises, goals and self-care
A few must-haves for Home Health Occupational Therapy Assistant:
• Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist Assistant in the state of Colorado.
• A graduate of an occupational therapy education program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), or its successor organizations of ACOTE and is eligible to take, or has successfully completed the entry-level certification examination for occupational therapy assistant developed and administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc. (NBCOT).
• In the last five (5) years, two (2) years of experience as an Occupational Therapy assistant that is relevant to the patient population assigned.
• Health care CPR Certified. (demonstration course required)
• Pass a background check and drug test (we are required to test for THC)
