Working closely with Manager/Supervisor to approve, track and review PTO. This position is also responsible for managing a low volume of customer accounts, providing support to customers, vendors, and internal employees. This position works closely with their Manager/Supervisor to continue developing their managerial skills.

This position is full-time, Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 7:00am - 5:00pm CST. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.

We offer weeks of on-the-job training. The hours during training will be 7:00am to 5:00pm CST, Monday - Friday.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ability to work on sensitive subject matter with the highest level of discretion.
  • Review and approve or deny PTO requests as well as track PTO.
  • Responsible for updating the IEX schedules for all PTO including unscheduled absences (Phone Team only)
  • Assist direct Manager/Supervisor in yearly annual reviews.
  • Balance customer assignments within the team to ensure service levels are met.
  • May attend daily Open Enrollment/ID Card meetings and give appropriate updates.
  • Will review daily phone statistics to ensure adequate coverage and all assigned Enrollment Specialists are taking their share of calls.
  • Respond effectively to customer needs or requests by providing information, service, or by referring customers to appropriate staff.
  • Work directly with group contacts, SAE's and brokers on enrollment and plan eligibility issues or questions.
  • Researching and interpreting enrollment/eligibility questions for many different and unusual plans and offering technical direction on how to move forward with the call and/or enrollment entry resolution.
  • Monitor high profile/top accounts as assigned, making sure any guarantees or special enrollment processing guidelines are met.
  • Facilitate discussions with customers and plan holders on escalated issues.
  • Actively participate in customer visits and finalist presentations.
  • Ability to analyze customer reports and take appropriate action based on the data.
  • Attend all appropriate team meetings.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Be an approachable resource to your team.
  • Promote excellent customer service techniques, while helping leadership develop the skills of others.
  • Work to improve quality metrics on team.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED OR equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years of experience helping customers resolve matters, preferably in an office environment
  • 1+ years of Enrollment experience within GEHA
  • Experience with GEHA members
  • Experience with computer and Windows PC applications
  • Experience to navigate a computer while speaking on the phone
  • Experience with Microsoft Word (ability to sort, filter, and create simple documents), Microsoft Excel (ability to sort, filter, and create simple spreadsheets), and Microsoft Outlook (ability to create, respond to, store, and retrieve emails, and use calendar to schedule meetings)
  • Ability to work Monday-Friday any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 7:00am - 5:00pm. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Remote within Kansas City, MO

Telecommuting Requirements:

  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy.
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service.

  • High level of expertise in customer service and health plan eligibility knowledge.
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and think through issues thoroughly, identifying alternative/effective solutions.

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Washington, or Rhode Island Residents Only: The hourly range for California / Colorado / Connecticut / Hawaii / Nevada / New York / New Jersey / Washington / Rhode Island residents is $19.47 - $38.08 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
