Purpose: This position will supervise the Industrial Services projects and personnel as directed by their management. This position will coordinate and manage the resources to successfully carry out Industrial Services work. This includes but is not limited to coordinating with the Industrial Project Manager and/ or Field Services Manager to plan and prepare and execute industrial projects.  This position specifically requires working in the field in industrial environments including indoors and outdoors in inclement weather.  The industrial Supervisor will work within established SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) with specific safety and environmental policies as stated by Field Services Management, Environmental, Health &Safety, and Facility Manager.

Essential Duties:

  • Actively works on industrial projects to execute projects within the scope and quoted amounts as directed by the industrial project manager.
  • Completes paperwork to document projects on behalf of Heritage Crystal Clean including, but not limited to:
    • Job Hazard Analysis
    • Project Daily Logs
    • Inventory Use/ Control Sheet
    • Hours worked report
    • Waste transportation documentation including Bills of Lading (“BOL”) and hazardous and non-hazardous waste manifests
    • Project progress reporting, as required by management.
  • Operate light and heavy equipment including, including but not limited to: pumps, power washers, vacuum, equipment, oil spill boom, generators, bobcats, etc
  • Assist the Industrial Project Manager to ensure that all employees are properly trained and equipped with the necessary tools to be successful.
  • Responsible for working safely in all job aspects and functions.
  • Maintains compliance with applicable Federal, State, and local requirements at the direction of the Industrial Project Manager.
  • Delivers training and counseling to employees to promote personal and employment growth.
  • Assists in various job capacities to support efficient operations, when necessary.
  • Schedule crews at the direction of the Industrial Project Manager.
  • Assist with maintaining equipment including preventative maintenance and major maintenance cycles as directed by management.
  • Report activities to Industrial Project Manager and Director of Industrial Services
  • Act in place of the Industrial Services Project Manager when required.
  • Other duties as assigned

Core Competencies:

  • Possess Industrial Services Project knowledge and experience to help direct staff to complete industrial services projects in a safe, compliant, and expedited manner.
  • Understands industrial scopes of work (SOW) and bids sufficiently to established schedules and deadlines for project work as assigned.
  • Intuitive and able to identify improvements required to streamline processes
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to help fix and/ or troubleshoot minor mechanical issues as they arise in the field.
  • Deep experience in industrial settings running large projects under tight deadlines with significant health and safety constraints.
  • Understanding of OSHA regulations and the ability to identify unsafe working conditions and confidence to exercise Stop Work Authority when required.
  • Sufficient logistics/ dispatch experience to schedule crews on projects based on customer priority (as assigned), equipment/ asset and employee training constraints.
  • Ability to lead and provide on the job training/ mentorship to inexperienced technicians and drivers on safety, equipment operations, service procedures, and paperwork requirements.
  • Ability to effectively interact with management, other members of department and vendors.
  • Functions within established corporate and regulatory guidelines
  • Present a positive image of Heritage-Crystal Clean to fellow employees, external contacts and to the public.

 Work Experience:

  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in the environmental/ industrial services industry is required.
  • Minimum 2 years Industrial Services Supervisory experience required
  • Previous experience in a field level industrial services position within the environmental industry, preferably as a Driver, Sr. Technician or Operator.
  • Experience supervising projects within regulatory (RCRA, DOT, OSHA) environment required

Education, Certificates, Licenses, or Designations:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Must have or be qualified to obtain and maintain a Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and Med Card with Airbrake, HAZMAT and Tanker Endorsement
  • Motor vehicle record (MVR) that meets or exceeds HCC’s published standards including, but not limited to the following:
    • Seat belt and cell phone violations
    • Excessive speeding
    • DUI, suspension and/or multiple vehicle collisions
  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER Training with current 8-Hour Refresher Training is required.
  • Current certificate for Confined Space Entry Training that meets or exceeds the CFR requirement 1910.146
  • Must have or be qualified to obtain a TWIC Card within 6 months of hire

All applicants must pass the following pre-employment requirements:

  • Physical including drug & alcohol screening and Job Demand Analysis
  • Background check in accordance with local laws and regulations
  • Willingness to be enrolled in ongoing, random drug screen pools depending on job assignments potentially including DOT, Pipeline Consortium and others as required by customers.
