Position: Manager-Clinical Nutrition

POSITION SUMMARY: The Clinical Nutrition Manager manages the daily operations of nutrition services through direct supervision of both non-exempt employees and entry-level exempt professional employees. Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as NWTHS/client policies and procedures (e.g. Health Dept., HIPAA/Privacy Act, Joint Commission, quality assurance, safety, operations, and personnel). Provides direction for patient meal services at patient care units to ensure customer satisfaction and retention for the Company. Directs daily operations of patient meal services at patient care units to ensure employees have appropriate equipment, inventory and resources to perform their jobs and meet goals and deadlines. Supervises day-today work activities by delegating authority, assigning, scheduling, and prioritizing activities and monitoring operating standards.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Experienced Registered Dietitian and have TX state licensure.
  • Supervises and provides ongoing training to the Clinical Dietitian; onboarding and yearly education of medical dietitians for food service staff.
  • Assures success of the Diabetes Self-Management and Education Program through direct supervision of the Education Coordinator - Diabetes Dietitian role.
  • Provides nutritional care to the acute care patients 20% of the time.
  • Meets state/federal/The Joint Commission and company standards.
  • Represents the Food & Nutrition Department as a liaison with the nursing staff.
  • Demonstrates excellent leadership, communication and customer service skills.
  • Directs daily operations of nutrition programs and ensure customer and client satisfaction levels are met.
  • Executes operating standards, implements quality improvements and communicates them to other departments; and collects and reports outcomes.
  • Maintains and develops client relationships and client satisfaction for nutrition services and promotes nutrition services.

Qualifications

Education, Training, Experience and Licenses/Registrations Required:

  • Master's Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Meets eligibility requirements for certification as a Registered Dietitian
  • 10 years' work experience in health care including hospitals, nursing homes, assisted or independent living facilities, long-term care, retirement homes, or clinics

Physical and Sensory Requirements:

  1. Ability to read and write English.
  2. Ability to communicate with staff, physicians, support agencies, vendors, and others.
  3. Ability to remain calm under stress.
  4. Bending, kneeling, crouching, twisting, lifting (10-30 lbs), grasping, fine hand/eye coordination, pushing and pulling, prolonged standing or sitting.
  5. Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard/metric measurement).
  6. Will be subjected to cold when entering refrigerator and freezer as well as fumes from chemicals, cooking odors, gases and odors from patient rooms.
  7. Potential hazards from cuts from knives and meat slicer and/or burns from cooking and heating surfaces.
