Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the timely processing of inquiry/referral calls and walk-in/scheduled emergency psychiatric clinical assessments and ensure their referral to the most appropriate level of care. Will help to coordinate and process each admission into the hospital.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of appropriate clinical assessment, diagnoses, & direct service interventions with patients.
  • Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families
  • Skill in preparing and maintaining appropriate clinical assessment documentation

Education/training:

  • Masters Degree in a Behavioral Health Field (Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, etc.)

Experience:

  • At least 1 year of full-time post-graduate degree experience with the population being served.
  • Experience in psychiatric evaluation, triage, and crisis stabilization.

Licensure/Certification:

  • Current North Carolina Driver's License
  • Current CPR Certification
  • CPI Certification
  • LCSW, LPC, LPA, or LMFT or active provisional license preferred

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of developmental psychology and needs of various populations.
  • Skills in application of DSM-V methodology
  • Excellent telephone etiquette and tact; audible speech, with good enunciation
  • Effective oral and written communication skills;
  • Basic data entry skills
  • Knowledge of short term/acute care stabilization mental health treatment.
  • Able to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Direct service of crisis counseling & interventions with patients and families
  • Knowledge of appropriate assessments, diagnoses, and interventions with patients.
  • Ability to maintain professional relationships with patients, patient's family members, staff and community personnel.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and high ethical standards
  • Ability to develop initial treatment plans for patients being admitted to the hospital
  • Ability to develop safety plans and provide alternative resources for patients being referred to the community
  • Assessment skills for evaluating mental illness and substance abuse in child, adolescent, and adult populations.
  • Professional verbal and written skills for communicating the patient status and treatment needs to employees of the hospital, payers, families, professionals, paraprofessionals, and members of the patient's community.
  • Skills in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation.
  • Ability to manage time, stress and crisis situations.
