The role

Are you a Senior Associate looking for a part role (3 days per week) in a market leading Public Sector practice in Brisbane? Are you seeking challenging and engaging work in the specialist area of infrastructure corridor planning and acquisition? Well, we have a unique role for you.

This role will work closely with another part time Senior Associate to provide full time coverage (with an overlap day) and seamless service to clients.

Working with our market leading Public Sector Partner, Majella Pollard (who is known for her inclusive and supportive leadership style), you will have the opportunity to work on some of the nation’s most complex and transformational major government infrastructure projects. You will be involved in providing advice to government agencies on a variety of project planning and acquisition matters, as well as undertaking Land Court litigation. You will have the opportunity to give presentations and to work with other lawyers across the firm to deliver a high quality legal service to our clients.

At Clayton Utz, you will also discover that flexibility is an absolute priority for diversity and inclusion and that all our team members utilise varied formal and informal flexible arrangements. Our lawyers are encouraged and supported to utilise these arrangements to best balance their life and career commitments.

Key responsibilities

This role will see you:

  • having a high level of client interaction and exposure to prominent government clients;
  • undertaking advisory work, drafting short form agreements related to land, and drafting court documents; and
  • liaising with clients, experts and counsel, managing files and attending court appearances briefing and liaising with counsel.

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • at least 5 years post admission experience
  • experience in planning and acquisition in a private practice or in-house environment (litigation, property, and/or government experience would be advantageous)
  • superior written and verbal expression skills and an aptitude for reshaping and expressing complex concepts concisely
  • a naturally collegiate mindset and positive and enthusiastic attitude, which prioritises respect for peers and collaborative working.

In addition to this, we're looking for a resilient, self-starter; someone who is able to work autonomously and is focused on attention to detail and providing outstanding service to our clients.
