YOU

As an Associate Material Handler, you will be responsible for ensuring all raw materials and components are available to the production team to ensure all customer demands are met with an emphasis on good safety practices.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Operate forklift to move material from warehouse or mixing department to the production department and operate forklift to return product from production and mixing departments to warehouse. (50%)

Obtain raw materials and component needs from warehouse to complete work orders to ensure completion of production orders (25%)

Coordinate with the warehouse to put away received product and to transfer orders (15%)

Use powered walk-behand and pallet jack to move material to or from machines. (5%)

Complete other tasks as assigned. (5%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
  • Valid Illinois Driver's License required.
  • SST Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) Certification required (will certify at hire).
  • 1 year of related experience or training.
  • Communication: Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend English at a minimum of 6th grade level. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Math Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Analysis/Reasoning: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Safety: Ability to consistently prioritize safety by demonstrating a safe work practice by promoting a safe work environment.
  • Equipment: Ability to operate forklift, reach truck, and pallet jack. Knowledge of cartridge filling equipment, material drum presses and pumps, and shrink wrap equipment (preferred).
  • Quality: Ability to follow both written and oral instructions, including safety guidelines, work instructions, and company policies.
  • Technical: Ability to access and execute virtual transactions on the company tablet/computer.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, see, talk, and hear. This role operates large equipment and needs to constantly position self to maintain the operation of equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and heavier weights with proper equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The job may risk exposure to heat and/or cold, wet, or humid conditions, fumes and/or noxious odors, toxic/caustic chemicals, dust, loud noise levels and moving mechanical parts.

TRAVEL REQUIRED

This job requires <5% domestic travel.

WORK STATUS & LOCATION

This full-time, non-exempt position is located in West Chicago, IL.

RELOCATION

Relocation is not available for this position.

PAY

$18.08 - $22.60 / hour
