What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a Logistics Services Technologist (CA). The applicant's primary role is conducting classified shipping any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Prepare machines and areas for machining readiness for all Machine Shop operations
  • Provide back up support in administering chemical inventory (CIS) and hazardous waste (WDDR) processes certification
  • Prepare and pre machine staging for all incoming materials including receiving, and material movement
  • Provide calibration clerical backup support as the primary classified shipping coordinator and support site customers with material handling
  • Backup role in property coordination duties
  • Collaborate with and sustain a positive work relationship with site line customers and supply chain personnel
  • Pick up and deliver inbound and outbound material, including chemicals and hazardous materials, for site customers
  • Move furniture and bulk items, and packs, secures, braces, or applies strapping for movement
  • May provide set up and break down for site celebrations, conferences, and meetings
  • Provide onsite transportation as well as offsite transportation to and from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Qualifications We Require:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two years' relevant experience
  • Active US DOE Q level security clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Experience working in a machine shop environment
  • Ability to work with a team, keep records, and adhere to established work planning and control processes
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with line customers, suppliers, and staff
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal daily supervision
  • Ability to obtain forklift certification
  • Basic knowledge of the common office software, including MS Windows applications such as Word and Outlook
  • Ability to interpret and adhere to established operating procedures
  • Excellent work organization and time management
  • Ability to work with department staff operations lead
  • Demonstrated ability to work with electric tools and small machinery

About Our Team:

This department is in place for the research and development of prototype manufactured hardware components made on industry standard milling machines, lathes, wire EDM, plunge EDM, grinders, saws, and bead blaster. Hardware is typically made from a variety of industry-standard inert metals, polymers, and composites materials. In rare cases, hazardous materials will be handled with the guidance from industrial hygiene and waste management with controls in place. Our mission is to provide an R to D to A (Research to Development to Application) support capability for our customers through excellence in science-based engineering and manufacturing technologies. Our capabilities are aligned with Sandia's Strategic Business and Management units and focus on engineering needs of Sandia's National Security Mission. Position Information:

This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.

Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

Applicants offered employment with Sandia are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment.

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
