Who we are looking for:

We are currently looking for a Transportation Coordinator to be based out of Harvey, Illinois. Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, this person will be responsible for scheduling shipments, maintaining positive relationships with carriers, and working with key stakeholders to ensure customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year's experience working in distribution center operations, transportation, inventory, or demand planning. Experience working with JDE in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.

What you'll do:

  • Check in and out drivers from the facility.
  • Prepare shipping documents for warehouse personnel.
  • Creates shipping documents and Bill of Ladings for outbound shipments.
  • Create customs paperwork or commercial invoices for international shipments.
  • Verify the accuracy of all shipping and receiving documentation and entering multiple systems.
  • Assist in appointment scheduling and transportation planning activities as needed.
  • Foster and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and visitors/drivers.

What you'll bring:

  • Minimum of one year experience working in distribution center operations, transportation, inventory, or demand planning.
  • High School Diploma is required. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Able to prioritize multiple tasks, strong time management skills, perform at a high level in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience operating in a LEAN environment a plus.
  • Must be a self-starter and highly motivated individual, and comfortable working in a team-based environment.

Within 3 months, you'll:

  • Complete your Atkore Immersion Program
  • Understand how your job will help deliver Atkore's Business System through Lean Daily Management and the Strategy Deployment Process.
  • Be trained and develop a thorough understanding of JD Edwards as related to your job duties.
  • Deliver a positive experience to visitors and team-members that is aligned to Atkore's core values of Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity, Respect and Excellence.

Within 6 months, you'll:

  • Become proficient in your functional area such as interacting with drivers, creating bill of lading and manifests, document retention, and data entry into JD Edwards and other business systems.
  • Contribute to and identify gaps in standard work that'll benefit your peers across the organization and assist in reducing errors in the process.

Within 12 months, you'll:

  • Contribute ideas in process improvement including KPI's of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost to help drive the organizations goals.
  • Continually improve skills to increase productivity and effectiveness in your functional area.
  • Develop meaningful relationships with Operations and Transportation peers to encourage trust and loyalty.
