As an operations senior program manager within the Lunar Operations Program Management team, you will be the focal point for the Mark 2 Cargo Lander to the business unit for the NASA SLD contract. You will report to the director of the Lunar OPM team within Operations. You will engage and lead the team, manage personnel, and manage the overall cost, schedule, resource needs, risks & opportunities, and change management for the MK2 lander. You will use your technical background to understand and effectively communicate with Blue Origin internal and external organizations and suppliers to guide project planning and execution.

Operations: This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and work closely with business unit and operations program and project managers to meet design, build, and test milestones for launch and space vehicles.
  • Coordinate support for the overall build within operations
  • Forecast, establish, and maintain goals, schedules, labor and non-labor costs
  • Contribute to the multi-year plan for the overall group
  • Contribute to program, design, and monthly metric reviews
  • Lead and mentor team indirectly in a fast-paced production environment

Qualifications:

  • B.S. Business, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Operations Management, or similar
  • 12+ years' experience in the aerospace industry with engagement in program/project management and business management in a development environment
  • Ability to work in a very dynamic, rapid manufacturing environment
  • Experience with large aerospace structures and integrated assemblies
  • Excellent written, communication and presentation skills
  • Aptitude for hands-on problem solving, with a passion for space systems
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Experience with direct and indirect people management
  • Experience with Primavera, MS Project or Similar
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Desired:

  • Master's degree in project management or PMP certification
  • 15+ years' experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment
  • Experience in project lifecycle management of aerospace systems and management of gated reviews.
  • Earned Value Management System experience
  • Experience leading organizations (directly or indirectly)
  • Experience delivering mission and safety critical software to space missions
  • Experience managing subcontracts
