Facilitates the shipment of goods produced and the receiving of goods and supplies to be used in the production/storage of goods destined for sale to our customer base through clerical and physical tasks associated with shipping goods and receiving incoming shipments.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Coordinate timely pick-up arrangements with carriers specified on the customer's purchase order for outbound shipments
  • Maintain adequate supply of shipping materials on hand at all times.
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
  • Count, label and complete inventory sheets for outbound inventory.
  • Verify the accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipment packing slips and record shipment data, including weight, charges, and space availability.
  • Unload trucks.
  • Receive and unpack materials and supplies.
  • Report damages and discrepancies for accounting, reimbursement and record-keeping purposes, and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor
  • Complete and maintain accurate shipping and receiving reports.
  • Operate forklift or other material handling equipment to position outbound shipments or incoming materials.
  • Ensure work area is clean and organized and perform daily housekeeping duties
  • Routinely life and move packages and shipments in staging for shipment or delivery inbound materials to respective department
  • Accesses computer on a daily basis for email, internet information and use documents to create entries and maintain an electronic log of incoming and outgoing package
  • Coordinate carrier pick up and generate shipping labels for outbound shipments according to shipping method
  • Select appropriate carriers/truckers to fill needs, both domestic and international and complete necessary shipping documentation
  • Track shipments as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum one year of previous shipping/receiving experience. Related experience in a manufacturing environment a plus.
  • Minimum one year previous forklift experience; other material handling equipment a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Ability to follow instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the function of the job
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations as related to shipping and receiving
  • Familiarity with packing slips, receipt of goods, purchase orders is a must.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Internet, and various carrier websites in scheduling shipments online. Experience with UPS/FEDEX online software is desirable
  • Must be able to fill out bills of lading and be familiar with various forms that are used and required by the major freight carriers.
  • Must be capable of estimating weight, and use that information to calculate the cost of shipping.
  • Must be familiar with proper packaging methods and able to interpret visual aids used to convey specific packaging requirements.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change and changing priorities
  • Keen Attention to detail

SALARY RANGE: $20.50 - 22.50/hour

  • Acts as the leader of all sourcing processes to ensure the cross functional business teams are efficient and effective in executing projects.
  • Will create and manage the sourcing project funnel and lead the Council on Material cost reduction to ensure coordination between NPI and VAVE activities.
  • Ensure company policies are followed.
  • Enforce company safety policies.

    *PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, talk, and/or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
