About the Department and/or College
Texas Tech University Libraries serve as a vital partner with students and faculty in their learning endeavors. The University Libraries' system comprises: (1) University Library, (2) Southwest Collection/Special Collections Library, (3) Architecture Library, and (4) Peters Family Legacy Library. The University Library is a patent and trademark depository and is one of two regional depositories for U.S. government documents in Texas. The central focus of the Texas Tech University Libraries is to make available 3.72 million physical volumes, electronic resources, special collections and archives, and to offer services to students and faculty that enable academic and research success.
Major/Essential Functions
- Hires, trains, observes and schedules Access Services student assistants.
- Completes weekly time clock corrections for student assistants; creates bi-weekly student assistant payroll report.
- Schedules and leads regular student assistant meetings to discuss new procedures and old issues.
- Conducts annual evaluations of student assistant performance.
- Ensures that all student assistants maintain compliance with Access Services, Library, and University policies.
- Ensures that Library staff compiles, processes, and transports lost and found inventory to TTU Police Department.
- Works at service desk; serves as an escalation point for Primary Desk staff for customer service questions.
- Participates in writing and updating Access Services procedures and documentation.
- Submits End of Day reports to direct supervisor.
- Supervises Library staff who are responsible for overseeing day to day activities of Library Student Assistants.
- Sets daily rotating schedule for student assistants.
- Serves as the contact point for Library Community Service students including paperwork completion and orientation.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in job related field plus three years experience related to the assigned area; OR a combination of education and/or related experience to equal seven years.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to think independently.
- Knowledge of Integrated Library Systems.
- Experience with scheduling software.
- Previous library experience.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Software.
