service list, be eligible under the 55a program.***

The New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) provides for the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of people and goods in the City of New York and maintains and enhances the transportation infrastructure crucial to the economic vitality and quality of life of City residents. The mission of Fleet Services is to assure the safe working condition of the department's motorized vehicles and equipment; ensuring the operational readiness of the vehicle and mobile equipment fleet; instituting compliance programs supporting fleet preventive maintenance, state-mandated inspections, vehicular emissions testing and schedules.

Fleet Services seeks a highly motivated individual to support the Associate Deputy Commissioner as the Agency Transportation Coordinator. The successful candidate will serve as a key member of the Fleet Services Senior Team. The candidate will support the Associate Deputy Commissioner in meeting the operational and programmatic goals of the Division.

Specific duties include but not limited to:

- Assist in making and updating Fleet's policies and standard operating procedures.
- Work to provide a discrimination-free work environment for Fleet Services
- Manage Rental Vehicles and vehicle upfits agencywide
- Oversee Fleet Focus M5 data management.
- Oversee New Vehicle Prep, Salvage and Compliance units
- Oversee EZ Pass data management and billing.
- Manage Driver Authorization forms including commuter vehicle operators
- Oversee Collision data management.
- Respond to FOIL and 311 requests
- Keep Track of scan and diagnostic tools
- Prepare and conduct staff evaluations, identify training requirements, mentor and positively manage staff as well as carry out disciplinary action when required.
- Act as an adviser to the Senior management team providing guidance for projects of high importance.
- Prioritize critical issues and required information to facilitate efficient decision making
- Interact with DOT managers, other city agencies and outside organizations on fleet related projects including Vision Zero safety, enforcement as well as perform other related managerial duties.


Minimum Qualifications

Qualification Requirements

1. Seven years of full-time satisfactory experience as an Auto Machinist, Auto
Mechanic, Auto Mechanic (Diesel), Electrician (Automobile) or Machinist, two
years of which must have been at a supervisory level; or

2. At least five years of experience as described in "1" above, plus sufficient training of a relevant nature acquired in an approved trade, technical or vocational high school, or relevant education in an accredited college, to make up the equivalent of the remaining required experience. Six months of acceptable experience will be credited for each year of approved trade or vocational high school. One year of acceptable experience will be credited for each 30 semester credits in college. However, all candidates must have the two years of supervisory experience described in "1" above.

License Requirements

Possession of a Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York. This license must be maintained for the duration of employment. For appointment to certain positions a Class B Commercial Driver License valid in the State of New York with no restrictions may be required. The Class B Commercial Driver License with no restrictions must be maintained for the duration of employment.


Preferred Skills
A minimum of 10 years of experience in managing and monitoring fleet safety & compliance issues for a large government agency. A minimum of 5 years of supervising ten or more employees. Possession of a Class A Commercial Driver's License. This license must be maintained for the duration of employment Ability to produce concise, accurate reports and work comfortably with MS-Office to create Excel Spreadsheets and similar analytical tools. Interested candidates should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to prioritize, manage time, and engage in multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work under pressure, and time constraints. Candidates should be organized, highly motivated, and able to work well independently and as part of a team. Candidate should have good judgment as to when to elevate issues, exercise confidentiality, and use discretion.

Residency Requirement
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
