Job Purpose:

Lucas Oil Products is seeking highly qualified candidates for a Global Trade and Logistics Specialist, responsible for import and export oversight, guidance, and enforcement to enable worldwide trade compliant business processes. As a member of Lucas Oil's product management organization and in collaboration with internal stakeholders, this position will ensure product compliance with international, federal, state, and local regulations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead product registration efforts with inside counsel and government authorities to ensure that projects are managed according to corporate brand and product strategy.
  • Responsible for developing regulatory strategy and compliance schemes in dynamic, ever-changing markets.
  • Provide global regulatory oversight and compliance support for Lucas Oil's product portfolio including new product development.
  • Review proposed product labelling, documentation, and product requirements to ensure international regulations are met in current and new markets.
  • Establish a clear direction in unclear territories based on educated risk assessment and high-level strategic thinking.
  • Lead the regulatory execution effort to ensure timely delivery of projects.
  • Advising internal and external stakeholders on emerging regulatory and compliance issues.
  • Ensure that the internal database for new products is kept up to date with all substantiation documents pertaining to global trade regulations, harmonized tariff schedule, and export control regulations.
  • Assist with the development of internal regulatory policies and best practices to retain knowledge, improve accuracy, and streamline processes.
  • Advise on trade agreements and related compliance issues, including but not limited to the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), country of origin, and material traceability requirements.
  • Represent company in conferences, societies, and other industry activities as assigned or requested. Maintain adequate level of expertise and professional development through attending training, self-study, seminars, etc. Stay informed of advanced developments inside and outside of the company.
  • Document and regularly review processes to optimize efficiency, including collecting and acting on feedback from internal partners.
  • Preparation and submission of reports, shipping documents, and declarations to various regulatory agencies.
  • Advising transportation department personnel on proper shipping documentation practices and preparation including DOT and IMDG/IMO.
  • Advising cross-functional stakeholders on relevant import and export requirements for raw materials and products.
Requirements:

Education and Experience Minimums:

  • Bachelor's degree in a physical science, related disciplines, or relevant work experience.
  • 5+ years relevant experience with global regulatory/logistics compliance.
  • Experience with Customs Brokering/international trade a plus.
  • Trainer certification for DOT or IMDG/IMO regulations a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to work collaboratively across various functions.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously across varying levels of complexity.
  • Able to exercise judgement and effective, independent decision-making.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Must speak fluent English.
  • Some travel may be required, domestically and/or internationally.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be physically able to work sitting or standing in an office setting or in a manufacturing environment as necessary to complete job duties.
  • Must be able to work at a computer for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds.
