 Job Summary

Our athletic trainers provide autonomous care under the supervision of a physician and accordance with the quality standard of Avera Orthopedics. This care includes but is not limited to: obtaining a detailed patient history, evaluating injuries, advisement on physical conditions, concisely presenting patient’s case information to managing physician, relay education to patient based on their capabilities and limitations, documenting in electronic medical record system, advising patient of treatment programs and providing after-visit patient education. Other athletic trainer duties consist of assisting of all processes of various orthopedic biologic sterile procedures and operating all modalities accompanied with the process, fitting, billing and ordering of all DME within the practice, splinting and casting in accordance to the physician treatment plan of care.

Individuals must have capability to effectively communicate to all genres of age and ethnicities of our patients. The ideal individual for this role is caring, compassionate, with high-quality work ethic which will contribute to the healthcare team of Avera Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. The individual should be self-motivated and embody the CARE Standards Communication, Attitude, Responsiveness, and Engagement. Time management, organization, written and verbal skills are essential.

Education and/or Experience

  • Master’s degree or a Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of athletic trainer experience is required.
  • One to two years of related experience and/or training required.

Certification/Licensure/Registrations

  • Certification as an Athletic Trainer required through NATABOC.
  • Licensed as an Athletic Trainer in the state of South Dakota required.
  • CSCS certification through the NSCA preferred.

Pay

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. 

  • $22.50-34.25 per hour
